I just purchased a Nano-like 12 gallon aquarium with built in wet/dry and good lighting. I am wondering if anyone can give me some step-by-step help in setting it up properly and/or any good web resources to check out.

Thanks for the responses thus far. I have actually had saltwater before, just had large tanks (100 gallons) and have not done it in about 5 years. Wondering what the current ideas are on getting this done right. I am expecting to start very small (just some live rock, maybe a few polyps and some clowns.)

Set up on a nano is the same as a large tank and since you know how to do the large you should have no problem.I started out with a small saltwater, 29 gallon and then upgraded.Only thing you need to watch is the water quality by testing often. As you know larger tank water volumes mean less spikes in ammonia and all cause it is diluted and in a smaller tank the spikes would be greater so you may have to do more water changes,
I know alot of people with nano tanks so it can be done with success..
Good luck.

A 12 gallon tank is too small for salt water. The smallest you would need is a 30 gallon. I suppose you could try it any way , I would like to hear the results , and the biggest challenges with any salt water set up is the salt. Make sure you get it right. Good Luck.......nano-ref.com

what length tank? as an occasion of your working a touch nano tank with a lid in a house with the thermostat set at an excellent seventy seven levels toy do no longer pick a heater or a chiller, as a time-honored rule you will pick a protein skimmer, lighting fixtures, a tank and stand, stay rock, (actual) stay sand, capability heads for water circulation, a sump/refugium (no longer required yet will defiantly make your life much less complicated, a internet, a pair of buckets, sparkling air line tubing of countless dimensions, fish nutrition (a sturdy type), a turkey baster (no longer kidding this might probably used extra suitable than the rest) and a quarantine/well being midsection tank yet each little thing relies upon of what you pick, in case you intend on holding tangs then a qt tank is plenty extra significant than say a gobie tank, in the journey that your holding super fish like angels and groupers you would be wanting as plenty stay rock and filtration as you will have adequate money (massive fish take massive unload, in the journey that your aiming extra for a predator tank you will additionally could desire to function super filtration and confirm you have adequate bypass to the the left over so the clear out fairly of rotting in a corner

it looks like you have never had a saltwater set up before.
I hope you know that nano saltwater tanks are very hard to care for and your going to have tons of water problems. you might want to rethink doing it salt water untill youve had some luck with a bigger set up.

Since you know already how to set it up, i won't get into that
But if you're planning on keeping clowns you will need an anemone
