This might be a bit long winded but bear with me - Yesterday I bought two mollies and a siamese fighting fish to add to my 3 month old tank, I already had 2 red rams, 4 platies and 3 leopard catfish in there. I had read a lot online that siamese fighters are fine along with other fish as long as there are no other fighters in there, and the woman in the fish shop told me there would be no problems - but a few hours after adding them to the tank my male ram had destroyed the fighters tail and was absolutely torturing him so I put the ram into a seperate wee tank on his own for a while to let the siamese fighter establish himself, but then the siamese fighter started trying to eat my mollies so I swapped and put him into the tank on his own and let the ram out. Everyone was getting on fine and I left them overnight like this, but I got up this morning and one of my platies is dead! What's going on???? Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do?

Hi, I have a Calico fantail, a golden fantail,a black moor,a Ryukin and an oranda. just five fish, and a ten gallon tank for them. I would like to add more some day, but i'm not sure which other types of fish would be suitible tank mates for my fish, they all get along well, I just worry that if i get a new fish of a different kind that it will not be welcomed, please help me out!.

I have a big tank with 10+ fish. I have mostly goldfish in there and 3 Koi fish.

About 3 days ago, their usual foods ran out, so we had to feed them a different brand (pellet).

I haven't washed my fishtank in months now and I see the the build up of something green looking, like dunk and other craps.

I then notice this morning that one of my fishtank lighting had fell into the tank (damn cat). It was plugged into the wall, but I don't think it was turned on but I think that might not be the cause.

I then started to notice one of my biggest koi fish (1 feet in lenght) started floating upside-down and couldn't swim well.

It was if he was trying to get out of the water but was weak. I immediately changed the water and put the sick-looking koi in a separate tank (a HDPE Plastic Bottle and it's big too so it held him with little room to move).

He now stopped floating upside-down, but still look weary and doesn't move much.

$5-10 reward for the solution! I don't want him to die!

when you are using a gravel vaccumes do you leave your fish in the tank while you are cleaning it or do you remove the fish.

I've had a 10 gallon fish tank for about a year now and I still have just a small amount of coralline algae! It bugs me. My tanks parameters are normal, my live rock is cured, and I have a 96 watt florescent light which is on about 12 hours a day. How can I get more coraline algae????

I went away for 2 days and when I came back I noticed that my beta fish's tail is shorter and less 'flowy' than it was before. It doesn't look like anything is wrong with him because he is as perky and colorful than ever, but I'm concerned why his tail seems shorter. Has anyone been in this situation or have any suggestions on what has happened or if there is anything I should do?

anyone know how to clean the artificial plants in a fish tank? they are starting to look yucky and i dont want to throw the rock they come on out.is there a safe way (for the fishes) to clean them and make them look nice again?

Whenever I go to my dentist office, or other places that have tanks, I see this small fish about 3-4 inches. They are grey with a little black and they look like miniture nurse sharks.

my friend gave me his cichlid fish and im kinda worried about it...wen it hides it kinda goes on its side..not completely but its like slanted...im seriously freaking out! I dont know what's normal and whats not!!! my heater on my 10 gallon fish only with live rock tank isnt working. the temp wentdown to like 73-74 degrees. what should i do?

It is a 29 gallon tank and has 55 gallon filtration w/ some live plants, this is what it currently is housing
-12 female bettas
-1 dwarf bristle nose pleco

This is what I would like to add
-4 bronze cories

I do 1/4 weekly water changes and change the cartdridges once a month, so far everyone is happy and healthy, the tank has been running for at least 3 months w/ fish.

I own one...it is a beautiful fish and I have had him for about a yr and 1/2 now...i want to get a new one and i was thinking about one with the amazing long flowing fins that are soooo pretty!!

i know they have real bad eyesight, so i wanna get a tank buddy who will be good with him/her. i have one bubble eyed goldfish [fancy goldfish?], and i wanna get 1 maybe 2 more fish to be it's buddy.

what fish would be a good tank mate? [more bubble eyed? maybe a moor or something?]

and how many gallons would i need? right now my bubble eyed is in a 2.5 holding tank till i get more~

I have two dawrf puffer fish [currently unnamed :C ] but they aren't touching the brine shrimp pellets i fed them. I'm gonna get some bloodworms and live and/or frozen brine shrimp, but i wanted to get some snails for them too cause i hear they have teeth [i wasn't sure if only some had teeth or all].

My friend has several fish including tetras bettas [ i think] and many more, and he has a hardy supply of those random snails you get with live plants. and i was wondering if he could donate me some snails so that my puffers [if they have teeth] can nibble on them and chisel down there teeth?

i also only have fake plants at the moment so the only thing i'd have to worry about is population control and stuff.

advice?

i have a 29 gallon tank with 12 tiger barbs, how many cory catfish can i put in there too?

also i have a 5 gallon with just a betta and a snail, and my snail ate all my plants except for my amazon sword plant. the plant looks nice and green but i think it made 2 or 3 small plants with roots and all off of it. can i move it to my 29 gallon? theres baby snails on the plants and i dont really want a snail infestation in my 29 gallon. any way of gettin them off? and will the regular flourescant tube that came with my tank be okay for the sword plants?

My betta fish had what appeared to be an ulcer or some sort of sore in front of his left eye in the beginning of July. It was swollen and there was white fuzz on it. I treated it with drop in tablets to clear up the infection. The infection had appeared to go away and he is swimming and eating again, however the area where he had the infection has not healed yet and it appears that in an area double the area of the original infection the scales have fallen off. Is this because of the infection or is there another problem. He appears healthy has he is swimming around the bowl and eating. Any ideas?

i got a male betta about 3 days ago, and he's been doing fine. i really want to breed bettas. and i just got a female batta today from petco, and i put her in the same tank with the male, but she is in a breeding net. how long will i have to keep her in the breeding net until i can put her with the male so the can spawn? (i also know that when i see a bubble nest, i can add the female) also, how lond should i keep the female and male together when spawning?

2 bins -- one for breeding.. that will hold the males until they are sold because if they stay together since they are born they will be okay but any aggressive ones will be taken out.. the other is for the females.. once again any aggressive ones will be tanken out and put into a seperate jar.tank

food -- infusoria and egg yolk (liquifry too)

medicine

hospital tank -- fot the famle the male has his own tank

extra water conditioner

extra plants for the breeding tank and female tank

eye dropper -- for food

turkey bastor -- for cleaning the bottom with ease

sponge filter -- 2 one for male and one for female tank

laptop -- to ask a question incase something goes wrong

thermometer -- keep the water at a constant

water heater(lamp)

i'm sure theres more so please tell me!
