that's green because of the fact the nutrition is inflicting a nutrient imbalance interior the tank. you could purchase heavy accountability canister filters for tanks upwards of 250 gallons, and in case you opt to circulate that path you could purchase a form of. you additionally can seek for stay flowers in an attempt to superb the algae bloom - the flowers will compete for nutrition and help suppress the severity of the blooms. you additionally must mess around with how lots you feed; if the fish is getting too lots nutrition, the uneaten factor will sit down and decay, dumping stuff into the water that contributes the the fairway blooms.

I've used Elite Stingray internal filters on my tanks for years. I replace the cheap filter sponges they have with my own sponges so that there is less clogging and more room for beneficial bacteria. I rinse the sponges in a bucket of tank water once every few months, but I never change them or the carbon stuff the filter comes with.

I have used Aquaclear brand outside (hang on the back) filters for years now on pretty much all of my tanks and I have found them to be reliable, well designed, and efficient. Granted, there are other filters out there, but I don't think I would use anything else except maybe Fluval internal canister filters. I have heard others swear by them but I cannot say from own experience.

HOB (hang on back) filters are pretty much the best to go with, since they come with a biowheel these days

they are easy to keep up with as well

Internal filters get to fast clogged up with waste in my opinion, that's why i really don't like them

Hope that helps
good luck
