I set it to about 80 last night, and then i went to check on the tank and my tank was 85! Someone I know has a heater that turns on for a certin temperture and then when that temp. is reached, it shuts off. Should I consider that type of heater? Because mine never shuts off unless I put it at a really low temp.

Well I really want to breed all my fish but first I need to know how! Here is a list of all the fish I have in the tank: Harlequin Rasbora, Yellow Molly, Dalmation Molly, White Molly, Golden Wagtail Platy, Guppies, and Bala Shark! is a huge tank like a 20 or 30 gallon tank really required?? Because I have a 35 gallon tank but all the fish are in there!!! Plus some other baby guppies! I have another tank which is only five gallons! Is it ok to use that one?? Here is a example of a 5 gallon tank: http://www.fishpondinfo.com/photos/fish/tanks/5gallon.jpg
and to I really need a net or trap for breeding my fish?? If you could possibly tell me how to breed all the fish above me it would be great! Please help me I really need all of this! Thankz!!

I have a male betta- Ariel. He is a joy. But I want other fish too. Like 2 comet goldfish, 2 dalmation mollies, 1 swordtail, and 1 hybrid platy. Will a 36 gal tank be enough for them? Are they all compatible? And can I put Ariel (Male betta) in with them?

This weekend my son's 3 year old, carnival-won goldfish passed away. She had seemed normal and healthy up until 2 days prior. The only environmental change she experienced was that we moved her tank from in front of the window to a darker corner 1 month ago. Did the change of sunlight make a difference?

While I was taking a fish out of the freshwater tank, the orange platy jumped out and lost some of its scale, in the water I can see the fish scale floating. Is that a bad sign? How should I treat the fish? Does the scale go back naturally. Please help Thanks!

I just set up a new tank for my betta and it has a filter that is submerged in the water. It sucked part of my plant up and I am worried that my fish's fins will get stuck in the part the sucks up the water (see picture) http://s225.photobucket.com/albums/dd191/curlie_haired_cutie_bucket/?action=view¤t=DSC00385.jpg . Has this hapened to anyone's fish? should I be worried? Also, when my fish stops swiming it looks like he is being pushed back by the water. When he isn't moving he still floats around. Does the filter cause too much of a disterbance in the tank? Thanks!

So for a few days I have been looking for fish and thinking about getting some
I want some Indian Dwarf Puffers (1 male and 2 females?), some Cory's (2 of them- 1 spotted and 1 julii, should both be of the same gender or opposites?), and if possible some fancy male guppies (2 or 3) or would guppies be too much for 10 gallon?
So how would I go about feeding them if their are different kinds of fish?
I know the Puffers eat bloodworms (ew), shrimp, frozen krill, small snails, etc. How much each? Can I just stick some snails in there and always feed them one kind of the foods or do they need variety? :\
what do Cory's eat? and how much each?
I'm sure the guppie's will eat some sort of flakes I can find at the pet store
I've heard Dwarf Puffers can be a little aggressive and nip at the fins of other fish- Will this be a problem?
What temperature will be suitable for all these fish together?
How often will I have to clean this tank?
Please answer EVERYTHING! :]
please don't just list a site

I feel bad for the other severum. He has been in "hiding" for the past 3 days! They have gotten along since we got them, but since the last 3-5 days one of them has been chasing the other, even biting or sucking on the lips of the other one. I am not sure what is going on! What do you think?

Anybody knows a good forum that has lots of members with decent knowledge and with fast replies? I'm a member of some forums and somehow they answer my question after a day or so and I barely get any replies which is why I resource to yahoo answers because the replies are much more faster but too many members just don't know what they are talking about.

P.S. a forum with general info about freshwater/saltwater fish/inverts/plants, etc

My black moor's tail fins and 'arm' fins are torn. it happened over night.
it lives with a fantail.
theres nothing sharp in the tank (cause i know their eyes are damaged easily).
he has lost alot of weight recently- but the fantail hasn't.
how long does it take for the fins to heal?
should i seperate the fish?
i have an empty, but smaller than what he's used to, goldfish bowl.

usually my community freshwater fish which consist of two black tie tetra, 3 serpa tetra, one dwarf neon blue gourami, and a pleco are very calm. Tonight they are swimming around my tank like crazy, it's really awesome to watch and I was even wondering if perhaps it had something to do with the full moon? anyway if anyone can tell me if they know why my fish are suddenly going haywire I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Okay, i think i know enough that crayfish do not need any air pumps, but i think i would want to leave it in the tank just because i think the crayfish would like to play with it, but i have also heard, crayfish would climb up along the air tube and get out of the tank. is this true? if it is, are there any techniques that can be used so that i can still have the air pump and crayfish in the same tank?

Additional Question: For the crayfish experts, you know that there are red, blue, orange, and white crayfish out there. i heard the blue crayfish can live with the white and red can obviously live with the oranges. can blue and red crayfish live together or white and red? also, what other color crayfish are there? and can they get along with other colored crayfish?

and if my fish have the fish desiese "ick" would it affect the crayfish?

Hi~

I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 cherry barbs and 2 corydoras catfish. I am wanting to get more fish. My parents would only let me get 2 fish at a time. I wanted to get 2 more cherry barbs but they are out of stock and so are the corydoras catfish (all species). I wanted them to be in a school. Do you have any suggestiong for me? I have a ten gallon tank and 2 cherry barbs and 2 cories. I would like more fish but the fish i wanted weren't in stock.

What kind of fish would be good and suitable for a 10 gallon tank and fish as listed above?

Only two.

Thank you,
Christian Coleman
