While the male is not too large, the female does look a bit small and not really in top breeding condition. I would suggest you remove her to another tank for a week or 2 and feed her heavily on frozen foods until she gets quite plump looking, then try breeding them.

Very nice looking female by the way!

I would suggest you go ahead and get the 10 gallon tank. A 5 gallon can be used, but there is a much higher chance of the female getting beaten up badly during mating and it's also very cramped space for the fry after breeding.

If I can help further, feel free to email me.

He looks like a suitable mate to me. I have always been successful breeding in a 10 gallon tank filled with only about 5-6 inches of water. You must think about the fry when it comes to a grow out tank. 10 gallons will hold more fry much longer than a 5 gallon.
Good Luck!

No it's not to big at all, beautiful bettas you got on your hands actually
I would recommend getting a 10 gallon tank, i'm sure it would work in a 5 gallon, but since you're new to that i would go with a 10
here is also an article for you to read, and a few videos on it

Hope that helps
Good luck

sure betta information The matters you want you must ask a fish informed and in addition the most cost effective bettas to shop for are at fish shops. Don't purchase it at the ones main puppy shops b/c they cost you 2xs extra. About meals- Well bettas love pellets and flakes b/c it’s made for them. If you desire a targeted deal with in your betta I do not forget Blood Worms. High in protein and it’s like a fish steak to them. Tanks- For that you want approximately a ten gallon tank with miny air pump/clear out. That will preserve the tank blank. Also, you want a heater for those who desire your fish to be hot and no longer bloodless. A 10 gallon tank must fee approximately 10 bucks and equal with air pump/clear out. Heaters are approximately 15-17 bucks. Plants are wanted b/c betta love to cover in matters and swim round it. They fee a couple of bucks. A feminine tank is approximately five gallon for those who desire to situation her or you'll simply depart her with different fish. Females would possibly not battle with different fish. Changing water is like as soon as every week. Just pour out forty% of the tank water and replenish the leisure with faucet or filtered water your alternative. For fish not to capture their fin within the clear out you simply want a smaller clear out then. I was hoping this helped plenty b/c ive been elevating bettas for 5years now.
