It sounds like your guppy is pregnant, and they're livebearers and not egglayers and their gestation period is 28 days

here is an article with pics and everything you should know about breeding them

And the not eating is absolutely normal as well, it sounds like she's just short before birth ;)

hope that helps
Good luck

Guppies will eat their young as soon as they are laid you should get a fish breeder thing. they sell them at pet stores and they work great for guppies. The babies come out in eggs but within 3 second turn into little baby guppies . the mother and other guppies and fish will eat all the babies with out this breeding device.

I had 500 guppy in my life so far and 250 were pregnant but don't worry it doesn't take 9 months it is good that you put her aside from the other fish wait a little longer and then she should give birth you might not know it but she will give birth so don't clean out the speprate tank after she as lost the wieght because the eggs mights still be unachted.

Guppies are a unique fish. You have to have 2x the females in your tank compared to the number of males. The females will have lay their eggs and they will stick to the side of your tank like little snails. If you are lucky the males won't eat all of them. I would say that for every 5 my females lay the males eat at least 3 of them before they are born. I was told this was normal behavior for the males - that is why you don't want too many of them - they also fight over the females. My tank has gotten progressively bigger since I added the guppies and they are a mixed bunch in their so you never know what color they will come out!

Yes your guppy is pregnant. You should just leave her alone and wait. The gestation period of a guppy is about 28-40 days.

chances are yes. I have no idea how long the justation period is though I know guppys are easy to breed. And if it is black by th etail that is a sign a good one that she is pregnant. You may see it turn an orange color later.

Best thing to do is get a little breeder container. u can keep it inside same tank. so u wont stress guppy with a different water environment. when baby's r born they will float to bottom of container that should have a little section for them to be away from adult fish. U can find this in your petstore.

ok, you separated it.. but where? Get a breeding container. Its pretty cheap. Remember to not separate the mom too early or she might suffer a miscarriage. Think its stress induced. So, if within 24hrs you don't see any fry, release her back. Best is to have lots of plants, so even if she gives birth in the tank, they can hide in the plants.

Good luck to ya.

Sound like it is pregnant and just about ready to have some babies. You can either get plants for the fry to hide in or get a commercial breeding trap that will separate the babies from the mother when they are born. One of these will work great for you. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-85300140756196_1960_42113831
