usually my community freshwater fish which consist of two black tie tetra, 3 serpa tetra, one dwarf neon blue gourami, and a pleco are very calm. Tonight they are swimming around my tank like crazy, it's really awesome to watch and I was even wondering if perhaps it had something to do with the full moon? anyway if anyone can tell me if they know why my fish are suddenly going haywire I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Most of the time when fish swim around the tank like crazy is when there is a water problem. When was the last time you did a water change? You must do a partial water change weekly as well as vacuum the gravel to keep the environment healthy for the fish.

That can be the result of a few things…unfortunately you can’t ask them so the answer can be hard to figure out… One of the simplest answers could be the water temp. the colder the water the slower the fish so check if your water temp is to hot for your fish or if it has just gone up…other reasons my be because of sickness, I am not an expert on fish illness I’ve only had to deal with ick myself but I bet others can help you on that area.
Good Luck

Check your water quality. If all of them are darting around the tank, you may need to do a water change.

fish have a sixth sense that allows them to predict storms before they actually come they become very active and act like they want to escape the tank before a storm comes.

They probably sense something that is happening that humans can't detect. Was there an earthquake?
