and breathing heavily. He/she looks miserable. Would it be best to remove this fish to save the lives of my others, or is it too late for them all. I have treated for ich about 2 hours ago when I noticed it. Went to store and bought ich meds, fungas meds, and ammonia reducer. I know sounds horrible, but should I remove that fish.

As someone pointed out you need to treat the tank, regardless of weather you take the sick fish out or not. Also as noted above use only one medication at a time. However the previous post talked about turning off filter, this is a horrible idea for just about any medication you can pick up at your local pet store. Most medications take oxygen out of the water, so turning off the filter is kinda like asking your fish to suffocate. What you should do is remove the chemical media from your filter (more specifically probably your carbon).

Anyway - I hope you can get your tank cleared up, QuickCure works really well on ich.

If you are treating the whole tank, no.

The meds are killing the germs in the water, and the fish have been exposed anyway.

Do seperate it if you can. Get a net breeder or a tank divider and put the sick fish in it. It will help it rest and heal not to be bothered by the other fish.

***NOTE***
Read ALL the directions. Follow them to the letter. You will have to do water changes and may need to turn off your filter. Be sure you do that. If not, the meds won't work.

Also, if you use all the drugs at once you can shock the fish/tank and you may have a mass die off. ONLY use the correct drug for the disease you're seeing, and USE ONLY AS DIRECTED!!!

All fish "have ich" is a matter of "break outs". The fish that has it sould be separated. A treatment for ick is to get distilled water in glass bowl add a couple spoonfuls of aquarium salt dip fish in for 30 seconds then return to water. Do this twice a day untill ulsers/white dots are gone. Add melafix to both tanks. If it is uncontrolable and (God Forbid) you loose your tank. Drain tank, remove live plants and "Flash" rocks with boiling water. Start anew.

when my dad notices something wrong with a fish, my dad removes the fish right away, and puts it in another tank that he calls a "hospital tank"..its an empty tank he uses to quarantine a sick or handicap fish until it gets better..then with the tank that it was previously in, my dad treats the water or changes it..if you aren't sure what's wrong with it, you can take a sample of the water and put it in a tube or something and bring it to big pet stores like Petco and they can tell you what's wrong with it and give you what you need..i don't think it would hurt to bring the fish to them either.. but i think it is best to quarantine the fish that have already been affected, and treat both the main tank, and the fish, just until it gets better..

in the beginning, in case you opt for a gaggle of small fish, DONT GET A MOLLY. i've got had very undesirable reports with cig and mollies. i could recommend getting an oscar as a extensive fish and, in case you prefer to function this somewhat later yet not ideal away and not with the oscar, an angelfish could look advantageous. another small fish could be a gourami (I truthfully have considered one of those), a platy, a loach, or a barb.
