So one of my guppies gave birth to her first batch of babies....Omg where there a lot...haha...anyways, I was wondering how long it would take for the babies to be able to swim with the adults without getting attacked/eaten. They were born only 3 days ago (almost 4). Thanks :]

My kids caught some hermit crabs at the beach and we are observing them for our "ocean" month.

I am having a hard time finding information on marine hermit crabs and we would love to keep these guys alive and possibly return to the ocean when we are done with our unit.

Any information you can give me is great! Thanks!

I inherited some mysterious snails when I purchased an aquarium plant. So far I've found three and there may be more. Two of them are the size of a pea and one the size of a small popcorn kernal. My question is: when do they start laying eggs? There appears to be an egg bundle on my filter. Other than the snails, my other tank inhabitants are 3 skirted tetra, 6 neons, and one placo which I also inherited with the plant. Anyone have any idea who laid the eggs?

Ok..I have a serious question cuz I really dont know what to do so I need help.I got a 2.5 gallon tank for putting baby guppies into so they wouldnt get eaten by my Tropical fish in my main tank with my other guppies.I put the babies there and they did fine. After they got old enough to be in with the others I put my 4 tropical fish in the 2.5 so my guppies could have my one big 10 gallon tnak all to themselves. They were in there for a good 2 weeks and then I did my usual cleaning of the tank, siphend the water, put in new and put declorifier in the water.10 mins later 3 of my fish had died..all but my tigerbarb..and he was in shock for a good week after this .So I let the tank sit for about 3 weeks and then drained it again and moved my goldfish into it thinking that by now whatever was wrong was ok now. 10mins after that, my godlfish died :-( Poor Whiteboi. What is going on with this tank? For now I have it put up and away before it kills any other fish. Please help with this!!!!!

I'm getting new to the fish thing, and cant really tell if she's pregnant. Actually, I cant even tell if it's a male or female.

Please let me know what you fish experts think, so I know if I should get a breeding box for her.

She is the white one...

I currently have a roomy 20 gallon tank with 20 fish inside. Some are under an inch long while a couple are three or more inches long. All of my fish seem very happy with the area they have, but I read that you should have a gallon per inch of fish. I have a lot of empty space in the tank and was considering getting some more fish (specifically neon tetras, black neon tetras, and clown loaches) to build up some schools. Should I stay with the number I have or is it safe to build up my tank? No rush on this question, thanks!

my son and I have a freshwater aquarium with various wild critters, including snails, catfish, and crawdads...all things that we have caught from our local river.

Yesterday, I noticed that my largest crawdad, about 3 inches long, completely disappeared.

About 2 days prior, I also noticed that 2 of our store bought gold fish were gone...I originally thought that the crawdad musta been hungry, but now I am thinking I have a whole bermuda triangle thing going on.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where my crawdad could have gone? And how long they can live out of the aquatic environment?

I am really not looking forward to finding a dead and rotting crawdad...lol
