If you don't want to get another bigger tank in the near future, I would start off with a 30 gallon tank.
Also don't get the goldfish yet, only the tank and everything else you will need
Like a tank kit which always includes the tank itself, a filter, sometimes a heater (which you won't need), some food, and a conditioner
you will also need as follows
gravel or marbles for the bottom
water conditioner like Aqua Safe
and most important a master test kit in liquid form which includes ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH
http://fishlesscycling.com/articles/new_aquarium_needs.html
Set up your tank with water filter and everything, you need to cycle your tank first before putting any fish in there
your tank needs to grow healthy bacteria for your fish to be healthy
Once your nitrite and ammonia levels are at '0', and you have nitrate readings, your tank is ready for fish
The following link explains fish less cycling in detail
http://fishlesscycling.com/articles.html
Please do your fish and yourself a big favor and do a fishles cycle, rather have healthy fish then dead fish
hope that helps
good luck

goldfishes r lovely fishes !!!
for 2 goldfishes ull need a 10gallon tank(gold fishes r not worth living in bowls!!no matter how big they r there just isnt space for gas excahange!!) to start with it even depends on the size of the fishes.ull need a good filter cause they poop a lot!!! give them light atleast 8hrs a day, use water conditioner and another thing put sand or big pebbles which wont get stuck on their thourt at the bottom of ur tank.do frequent water changes (20% every alternate day ) so that the water doesnt get cloudy !! and last but not the least decorate ur tank with lots of artificial plants(the fishes will eat up the real ones) so thaty ur tank looks attractive and feels safe for the fishes!! hope i helped u .

Hi Jacki, all I can add to Evelyn's excellent advice above is with Goldfish you are doing both them & yourself a big favour by getting the biggest possible standard rectangular or bow front lidded tank your finances/living space will allow. The link below should address many of the questions you will have as you begin. By the way-fishless cycling is really easy & far more controllable than using poor fish. Best of luck!

Fancy goldfish require 10 gallons each, while regular goldfish require 20 gallons each. You will need a car to get the tank, gravel and other equipment, then you must cycle the tank before you add the fish (see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/faustus/nicoldaquaria/fishless.htm or do a Google search for "Aquarium cycling" or "Fishless cycling" for information about cycling your tank). In about one month, after your tank has cycled, you will need to the use of a car again to pick up your fish.
Good luck with your fish!

At least a 10 gal tank should start you off for a while. Goldfish have great personalities and are really good choices. Be sure to get a good filter and so water changes regularly. An air pump will help oxygenate the water and help move waste. They love to play so give them decorations to swim around and they Will entertain you. Plants are a good place for them to hide and play in. There are silk, plastic and real plants. Mine usually eat the real so I put in silks for them. We have a Blk. Moor and you need to be careful they get injured and have to be fed special so they actually get to eat. Check out kokosgoldfish.com. It is a good source to learn about your fish. Enjoy.

The fish will grow to the size of your tank so at the least get a 5-10 gallon tank as they will grow to accomdate at least that size and shouldn't get any bigger unless you put them in a bigger tank. They will need filtration as they poop ALOT. Then, decorate the tank to your hearts desire if you want it to look pretty. Make sure to only buy things made for fishtanks because if you put random toys, statues etc in there they can put toxins in the water that will harm the fish.
Goldfish are very hearty and unless you buying a rare expensive breed it is not really necessary to cycle your tank for a month....
