Hi, my tank is cycling, and is about two weeks in.

I have no fish in it.

I want to add a few mollies in a few days.

I know I can do this, so please don't send me info on cycling - I DON'T NEED IT.

At the moment, the water is slightly yellow. I've done a 30% water change a few days ago and it's improved and continues to improve since then.

I'm going to change the ornaments (decided against them), which will remove some of the decaying food which made it yellow.

Therefore the tank water will be better.

#1 Is it safe to add the fish with the algae or whatever it is (I know it's safe otherwise, just not with the algae)
#2 Is it okay to add a couple of live plants? Should I do this before or after fish?

Please don't answer if you're not gonna answer my question. It's just a waste of your time. I'm fed up with people answering questions that I don't need answering and not answering the ones I need.

My tank has been cycling for 2 weeks, though I added too much fish food and it went green, so I did a 30% water change and it's slightly better. There is however a couple of bits of floaty decaying stuff. I've decided I want to change my ornaments, so I'll take them out and clean them, put the new ones in etc, so this will get rid of any decaying stuff that's on the ornaments (currently a large chunk of bogwood and a normal log shaped store bought one) I will add my plants too.

Once this is done, even though my water is still slightly yellow, is it safe to add a few hardy fish (ie mollies)?

Does this seem like a good idea? Any advice would be appreciated :)

Hi, I have a few goldfish which are getting too big for their tank. I want to put them in our pond outside. They have always been in a tank and I'm afraid that they will die in the pond because of the temperature change. It is a small pond, 3 feet long, 2 feet wide. It has a filter and fountain pump. My goldfish are about 2 inches long and there are 3 of them. Also, is it ok to put them in during the fall/winter? Or will the temperature change be too much for them?

Has anyone used water clarifier? It makes cloudy water clear. I used some and I got a few more fish and now my tank is kinda cloudy again. I wanted to use the clarifier again, I just want to be sure it's okay for my fish.

I have a 30 gal tank w/ 4 dwarf gouramis. The flame gourami has a lesion. I have treated w/ small amounts of melafix (1 cap every 2 days 3x) in the main tank. I added 5 TEAspoons of disolved salt tonight as well after reading that it was ok. Since then I have also read dwarfs will not take any salt. I will do a 40% water change tomorrow if I get lots of answers that say they will not tolerate this. Thanks.

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank that's been running for about 4 months now. Currently residing in the tank are 5 peppered corys, 2 diamond tetras, 7 black neon tetras, 1 marigold platy, 1 paradise fish, and at least one oto, there were 4 in there but they either died and ended up in the filter or just like the hide under the rock or driftwood. I was wondering if I could/should add more fish, and if so what would be some good fish to add?

...on the 2nd floor. I don't have a stand for it but I will be placing it on top of my dresser. The 55 Gallon would fit perfectly with a few inches of room to spare. My question is, would the floor be able to hold 1000lbs? Just say the 55 Gallon filled up is around 500+lbs and the dresser is 400+lbs.

We had bad luck with our fishtank when we tried to have one last year. It's a 30 gallon vertical type, and all we wanted were a few nice, pretty goldfish to look at. Nothing fancy. We got a nice filter and water conditioners and stress coat and all the stuff you are supposed to get. But we'd get a fish from Petsmart and pretty soon, usually all the old fish would die and then eventually the new fish would as well. It' was frustrating. The tank has sat empty for several months now and I'd like to try again but I don't want the same thing to occur. So I need GOOD info to give them a nice healthy start. I thought goldfish were supposed to be easy!

I have a 75 gallon aquarium with a Tetratec pf500 external filter. It works great at keeping my water clear, but its soooooooo noisy!!! I've had it for about 2 years, and its been an on-going problem. I was wondering if there was something wrong with just my filter or if anyone else has had problems with noise??
