I have a hydor 2 and i am putting a second one in and removing a maxijet and i have a maxijet for my skimmer and then a little dinky powerhead for my refugium. The temp holds at around 82-83 during the day and like 81.2 at night. I assume that this is to high for a reef tank? I have no glass top on my tank so i assume that the only thing i can do is a chiller?

I am positively in love with the beautiful colors guppies have. I have always wanted to breed them, but I am unsure if it would even be successful. I was told you have to have a few pairs of males and females in order to make them want to spawn. Or can I just put a male and female together and they have a xxx encounter almost immediatly?

Well my bettas spawned, which was not intentional by me. I only placed the male in my ladies tank for about an hour while I cleaned his out. I didn't have the heart to destroy the nest. I could never, ever do something so cruel. But now he has passed on, (death by jumping) and I'm left with parentless fry. How well do infursia(sp?) and tetra brand fry food work? I have limited funds but don't want to see them die. I already miss my male terribly and really want one of his babies. BBS and micro worms are out, as it would be considered to late to start a culture. Any ideas?

This is especially with the guppies I buy. I test the water and its fine & even had the pet store test it for me & they said it was fine as well. I do regular water changes & don't overfeed my fish. I bought a guppy and a platy the other day and two days later they died (this happens everytime I buy fish!). I went back and they replaced it for me and the new one died as well. They even recommended that I try buying fish from other places to see if they survive and I have and the guppies are usually fine but other fish die. I have plenty of airation in the tanks.
12 gallon tank: 5 female guppies (1 died, then the replacement died) 3 males, 1 baby pleco. 20 gallon: 6 neon tetras, 4 cherry barbs (1 looks like its going to die- its skin around the mouth looks like its peeling), 4 rasboras, 3 mollies, 2 cory cats, and 1 small pleco. The guppy tank is new, cycled using stability. I heard about dyed guppies and that they are weaker and I wonder if that is in fact what I get at this store!

I got 2 pairs of pinkish fish that keep chasing each other all day.The shop keeper said they were some sort of tetras. They got black spots in places. They chase my fighters all day.My fighters keep hiding because of them. I got another pair fish today, they are called blue something,I cant recall. They are about 2cm,and have blue stripes.I think the shopkeeper once said they were some sort of chiclids, but when I said I couldn't buy them coz chiclids r aggressive, they called it blue something. Now I have them in a fish bowl with a pair of neon tetras since I dont which tank they shud go to.I need the names of these pink fish and the blue ones,so I can do some research on their compatibility with other fish.I cudnt get a decent shot since they keep on running around so much. But the following snapshot and the 4 pics that follow may b helpful:

Is there any inexpensive things I can do to help the last one? That will work QUIKLY!! And, if they all die, do I have to buy a new filter and gravel? Will all the decorations have parasites? How can I get rid of it? Help!

I have been keeping tropical fish for the last few months, and have upgraded to a four foot tank. I saw two gorgeous Oranda goldfish in the LFS the other day, and I'm thinking of exchanging my tropicals for these beauties. They are three years old now, and almost fully grown. Is a four foot tank o.k for fish these size. Also, is there anything special I need to know about caring for these fish?

Hello! I am just starting out in keeping salt water fish. I have a 60 gallon tank and I bought a Canister filter that works for up to 100 gallons and I also bought a power filter that's good for up to 75 gallons. Will having these two filters lessen my maintenance? The box my filters came in said that I would have to change filter pads, carbon bags, foam etc. like once a month. If I have these two filters working together can I change them every 2 months instead?

Something for 2 dojo loaches in a 30 gallon tank. Gravel that is small and not sharp is difficult to find (will those generic colored gravel work?)

I am leaning towards gemstones - something like this

is this okay? is there anything else that will work?

I can get some more perhaps next month, but they aren't suffering are they?
They look fine... They don't really swim together much but arent hiding in corners or scared of the other fishies (which are just a few guppies... And a pleco...)
Let me know ;) Cheers!!

So will the BA, angel fish and ollie sget along?

i rely ned them to cause we arealy have all the fish but the BA is in a cichlid tank and getting picked on
