Apongeton Ulvaceous is by no means a small plant, and really needs more room if you want it to actually grow. It will reach about 15 inches in height, and needs a filter (as well as relatively strong lighting, fertilizers, and preferably CO2). The Dwarf Lily is not a small plant either and will achieve a maximum size of more than 1.5 feet tall, making it, again, not suitable for such a small tank. Plants don't grow just because you can give them water, it is much more complex. In many respects, growing plants is harder than keeping fish. The air store is not a good idea because it will reduce the amount of CO2 in the water, leading to stunted, weak plants.

Get about 2 inches of gravel (which will require undergravel fertilizer tabs for optimal results), a filter, and a bigger tank if you really want to grow this plant. Email me if you have any questions.

about an inch and a half of gravel on the bottom will do fine. You can add air but it is not necessary. You will have to feed your betta, they cannot live on plant roots. Feed 3 times a week and change all of the water out every 3 to 5 days for healthy betta.

I hate fish bowls, but for bettas, they are okay I suppose, but you must have a filter; all fish must have a filter, and especially if you add a plant, because it can add dead and dying plant materials to the water.

You probably won't have any luck since tiger lillies or dwarf lilliers are HUGE!
