Hello! I am just starting out in keeping salt water fish. I have a 60 gallon tank and I bought a Canister filter that works for up to 100 gallons and I also bought a power filter that's good for up to 75 gallons. Will having these two filters lessen my maintenance? The box my filters came in said that I would have to change filter pads, carbon bags, foam etc. like once a month. If I have these two filters working together can I change them every 2 months instead?

In saltwater your water chemistry is extremely important. Thise box filter actually need the pads rinsed every couple of days. The filters actually catch all the bad stuff then guess what. The bad stuff like food starts to break down. Then right back into the tank you and not to mention that hold on to nitrates.

Your canister is fine along with you power head. Actually go for another powerhead to circulate the water better. You need about 10 to 12x tunr over of you water. As far as maintenance goes you need to perfor them every 2 weeks but monthly at the least. This is not a hobby for the lazy so good husbandry will make it much more enjoyable. I also recomend a good clean up crew. They will help you the tank appearacne but please condier the bi weekly water changes. You can do just 10% every two weeks and your tank will always look good while providing good water quality to your tank mates.

In order to lessen the exchange of the pads in your canister filter you need a skimmer

Hope that helps
Good luck
