If by purified water you mean distilled or reverse osmosis, then it is not a good idea because these waters are lacking in elements that both provide stability in the aquarium and long term health to the fish.

If you mean tap water that has simply been run through a carbon type filter first, or bottled spring water, then you can certainly use it.

Gold fish live in plain water as long as they have filters

Tropical fish must have chemical balanced water.

I wouldn't because they miss chemicals the fish need

Use instead tapwater, let it sit out for 24 hours and condition it before putting it into your tank
