Such as like if its in the wild, woulnt the eel shock everything else? Since water conducts electricy? And how does it create an electric current?

can u have sand for a freshwater? i have some plants in it and 4 guppies.... and my guppies i have 2 males and 2 females and i never see them mate but can a female be pregnant from 2 different males? can she have half of the batch from 1 guppy and the other half from the other guppy? or will she jus have them from one guppy?

last week I bought a 1.5 inch tiger oscar and put it in a 30 gallon tank with 2 cory catfish that are 1 inch and the oscar died this morning. will petsmart give me a new one or at least give me my money back? i still have the receipt and tested the waterand its fine. what should I do?

I just bought 2, 5-gallon tanks so I can get some neon tetras. The websites I viewed said they like the pH to be around 6.8 - 7.0 (or something like that). My pH, levels are at 8.6. How do I lower it? Should I lower it or will the fish be fine?

As of yesterday, I had 4 neon tetras, 3 gold neon tetras, 2 dalmatian mollies, and 4 tiger barbs in my 20 gallon fishtank. Late last night, I looked at my aquarium and saw one my tiger barbs upside down squirming in between rocks. When I woke up this morning he was dead. This is the first time any of my fish have died in the lifetime of the aquarium (1 year, 5 months). Please help me answer these questions:

1) How come when the barb died, he didn't float to the top? I thought when fish die, they float to the top but the tiger barb just is laying at the bottom. I'm positive he is dead by the way.

2) Over the lifetime of the aquarium, the tiger barbs never nipped at the fins of the tetras, even though people have told me that tiger barbs are aggressive and will do so. Now that i have an odd number of tiger barbs (three), will they nip at the other fishes' fins? Is it necessary to buy a fourth barb?

3) Should I flush the fish down the toilet or bury him in my yard?

i have 2 males and 2 females and niether of them seem liek they are interested in the other, i put them in the tank 2 days ago and i never seem them mating and i had guppies before and they like never stopped mating y arent my mating ? and also one of my females had a gravid spot with a whole bunch of black dots when will she have them? i think this is her first prengancy because shes not liek a full gull grown guppy

i just did my first water change,with my new german raqm, ive had him for about a week
same ph and temp, same source, and i used the same declorinator
and my german ram is now just lying on the bottom of the tank in the back
is this bad? what should i do?

i have a newborm malabar puffer and i have him in maybe three fourths of a gallon right now but plan on giving him a 2.5 or 3 in the near future it will be heavily planted (with falsies) and the filter will be 16 gph and i think its ok because i read they are river basin fish also i would like to know if this tank is big enough for maybe a otocinclus

Which rule is better to use for stocking your tank?

strange i know....but...
at my college theres a pond and a fish that shud be a normal goldfish but its looks like its eaten an egg coz its soooooooooo huge in the middle. surely thers sumat worng with it? it still swims and every time we see it were just like shudnt u like be dead....no that we want it 2 die we jsut dont understand y its not lol...

Do i still have to change my water if i have a subtank that has sponges, rocks and dead corals as my filter?? I also use a protein skimmer??
Is my filter system good enough?

Does having a chiller in tropical country required for saltwater setup??
Do i need to follow the 10% weekly change or 20% in 2 weeks??

Also can i use tap water from my faucet?? They say that you can use it after 1 - 2 days after you have put the salt solutions the chlorine content are evaporated???

we have some (what i assume are dried) bloodworms, that we used to use to feed my brothers fighting fish, but now are using to feed some tadpoles we got the other day, but now two of the bloodworms have come back to life and are now swimming/floating around the tank, is this possible? is that ment to happen? are they even blood worms? they are white and about 7 mm long, have a black head and a black spike thing at the back of them, and have tiny legs, almost like a millipede. anyone know? its just weird thats all :D oh and we have had the blood worms for i dunno at least a year, if not more.

was that a fungus? I have done a 50 percent water change used water conditioner...betta revive and betta fix remedy...i also stirred around the rocks and removed some of the plastic plants that were close to the dead fish...have i done enough? what happened to my fish? she showed no signs of a fight with the male betta in fact she was showing her egg sack and he was building a nest like crazy...what went wrong?

recently I had a neon tetra that looked like somebody had just cut off its tail fin. he was face down in the gravel when I noticed it. he really had no tail, it was all gone. he died a couple days later.he was in a 1gal tank with 3 other neon tetras and they didnt seem to pick on him. he didnt seem sick either until he lost his tail

i looked all over the internet as for a reason as to why this happened, but couldnt find one. anyone know why or what happened?
