Black is a color that's hard to keep in goldfish. Even the "Black" moors. If there was any orange or broze color to the bottom of the abdomen, that's a good indication that the fish will change color in time. Here's a link to a website that documented the color change in one moor: http://thegab.org/Articles/ColorChange.html

I've also seen a black moor change to a tricolor, with black on top, white on the bottom, and orange in between. It ended up a very attractive fish.

This is just the result of the genetics of the fish, and many of the goldfish today are mass produced without regard to the genetics of the parents.

Hi, i've had loads of goldfish and a lot of them do change colour randomly. Some people think the water affects, some people think its the food, Personally, i think its because pet shops by them in huge quantaties so when they have been bred, their parents have had loads of different colour in their genes.
