You can feed them all sorts of vegetables..Mine love spinach. But most veg's have to be cooked in order for the fish to eat them. With spinach I put a leaf in a cup of water and then microwave it for 3 minutes..This softens the fibers that make the spinach leaf so that they fish can eat it..It is good to have a varied diet for you tang. The do need algae, seaweed.I also feed mine emerald entree,,it is a frozen food as well as some meaty foods..I have three tangs as well as other fish so they eat alittle of everything.

It's possible to feed them cucumber, zucchini, and dark leafy greens, but these don't contain the same nutrients as seaweed. Since algae is what your fish is adapted to eat, it's better if you supply that as much as possible. If your pet store doesn't carry it, see if you can find nori in the oriental section of a local supermarket or in a health food store. Nori is a type of seaweed that's used as the wrapper for sushi and California rolls.

There's also a frozen fish food by San Francisco Bay called Emerald Entree that contains seaweed for marine herbivores. This comes in cubes that you pop out of a blister pack - depending on the size of your tang, it may eat either a hole cube or a half at a time. You can refrigerate the rest for the next feeding.
