just a couple of minutes ago i found lots of baby fish hiding out behind a rock behind my pleco's spot. they looked about maybe 1-3 days old.in my tank i have dalmation mollies, balloon mollies, zebra danios , and one plecostomus(dark brown and spotted like a leopard. spots are more vivid when frightened what species is this pleco?). i know these babies are dalmation mollies, but two of the babies look much darker, almost black, and something that looks like stripes or either spots and they dont swim well at the top. they swim more towards the bottom of the breeding tank. (i moved them so the other fish dont eat them) is this possibly a baby pleco? or jsut an unhealthy molly? they are the same size as the other baby fish.
i need help ! can someone give me a picture of a baby pleco thats less than a week old ?

Just added fungus eliminator which I now know I probably didn't need to do... so I went ahead and put my carbon filter back in and changed out about 2 gallons of water for new. Is there anything aside from doing a complete water change that I can do to speed the process along? I'm not liking the yellow water! I'm guessing that I'll probably have to wait it out... so how long should that be?

He didn't look like he had been eaten, just torn in half. I keep hearing a tapping sound in the tank also. I suspect I might have a mantis shrimp, but I also have a coral beauty angel fish and have heard that they will nip at inverts. Is it possible that my angel could have niped my shrimp in half?

4-5 skunk botia loaches (not clown loach, skunk loach)
8 platies
2 opaline gouramis (female and female)
1 paradise gourami

Is that a decent stocking, and can I add any more fish (maybe just a few more, or is that good?)

By the way, the inch per gallon rule is sucky and not true :)

Cheers!

P.S. By the way I know the platies will freakin give birth all the time, I'm prepared. :)

A few weeks ago i went to pets at home and purchased two female gouramis, I knew when i bought them that they had white spot. The people in the shop were reluctant to sell me them but when i told them i had some white spot treatment and a tank to keep them seperate from my other fish they let me pick them out.
At the time i couldnt find any female gouramis as the petshops only sold the males as apparently the females were too undesirable.
I treated them for white spot even though the ones i had picked had no visable signs of the parasite. I know they could still carry it as it lasts a while. I finnished the full course of treatment then put them into my comunity tank 2 weeks after this and they died not long after. My male then died along with a few of my other fish and now i have a female guppy who was hanging around the filter and today she has visible white spot. I know stupid me but what do i do? should i put her out of her misery or what? I have removed her from the main tank

I have one female guppy in my one gallon tank with a hood and an undergravel filter. I do partial water changes every few days. I've had my guppy since I started the tank about 5 weeks ago. She seems to be doing great, shes very energetic. I was wondering if I should add one more fish (maybe another female guppy) to the tank to keep her company. I know guppies do better with other fish, but I also realize that I have a very small tank.

I noticed a couple days ago that here was a teeny tiny speck of something white-ish on my frog's eyes. I thought that maybe something like food just went and probably landed on his eye, but now a couple days later, it has gotten bigger. He hides a lot now, a lot less than he used to. I know they're supposed to hide, but this is still unusual for him. I'm pretty sure that it is a bacterial infection, but what can I do to cure him?

Ok.
My 29 gallon tank has two clown loaches in it that will eventually outgrow the tank.
At this point, i am deciding whether to get a 58 gallon saltwater tank or a 58 gallon freshwater tank.

I really would like to try keeping saltwater fish, i would like it more than freshwater. but, if i do this, than the 29 gal tank is the permanent home for all my current fish and my growing clown loaches that will eventually have to be gotten rid of.

So.
should i keep th clown loaches and get a bigger freshwater tank or go with the really really really tempting saltwater tank?

i am ready for the challenge of saltwater tank and im aware of the difficulty of it.

I have 3 female Betta's in my tank and after a day (and some initial fighting) they seemed to get along good. One I had for 2 weeks, the others too I put in 3 days ago. Today one of the new ones had torn fins and looked really depressed. i separated all three of them immediately. I heard that if I reintroduce them to the tank after some time they might be less territorial about it. But for how long do I separate them? Also, one of them started making a bubble nest. I don't know which one it is, though. I checked and all three of them have that little white dot behind their belly. I am positive that all of them are female but how can i be really sure? Is there another way to tell (except by fin size and that white dot)?

I just woken to find some of my fish dead, the tank is sandbased and i did a 10% water change yesterday plus clean my filters aswell, as i noticed that the water was going cloudy, probably cased by the sand being stirred up, i was wondering wether sand in the water may of cased the fish trouble breathing. I 'm now going to test the water aswell. Any advice please.

I have had 2 Percula Clownfish along with 5 pounds (I'm gonna get more) of live rock cycling my 40 gallon tank for 2 weeks.

When it finally gets cycled week after next, I want to add some more fish.

I was thinking of a Yellow Tang, shrimp, crabs, turbo snails, etc.

What fish could I add?

I've read everywhere that they're supposed to be very active fish, but all they do is sit in the corner together (I have four) and stare at my kitchen. They will swim to the top to eat if I get their attention by putting my hand close to the side of the tank, but that's the only time they ever leave the corner. Am I doing something wrong?

The water stays between 78 and 80 degrees, I feed them tropical flakes twice a day, and the only chemicals I've added are "Stress Coat" and "Cycle".
