Ok.
My 29 gallon tank has two clown loaches in it that will eventually outgrow the tank.
At this point, i am deciding whether to get a 58 gallon saltwater tank or a 58 gallon freshwater tank.

I really would like to try keeping saltwater fish, i would like it more than freshwater. but, if i do this, than the 29 gal tank is the permanent home for all my current fish and my growing clown loaches that will eventually have to be gotten rid of.

So.
should i keep th clown loaches and get a bigger freshwater tank or go with the really really really tempting saltwater tank?

i am ready for the challenge of saltwater tank and im aware of the difficulty of it.

29 gallons is plenty big for saltwater, switch that one to salt,it will be a perfect start for a marine set up.They are a much bigger challenge than fresh water, and this will help you get the feel of how they work, and then you could get a bigger one in the future. Then put all of your fresh water fish in your new tank.Sounds like a win,win situation to me.HAVE FUN!

58 gallons is sort of small for a Marine tank, you might wish to hold off on the salt until you get to the next larger step. A 90 or 100,or even 130 gallon tank will make a much easier introduction into salty fish keeping, whereas, a 58 will be a great fresh water exhibit.
One more item,it won't take the Clowns too long to outgrow the 58 either!
Whatever you decide, have fun with your fish!

You can try that, oy you can have a 58 gallon freshwater tank and a 29 gallon saltwater tank. I know how tempting it is but my parents won't even let me have a tank bigger than 10 gallons.

easy keep your existing tank and switch it for the new salt water fish and buy a 58 gallon for your clown fish. that way if you do not do well with the salt water fish you still have your original fish. its a win-win situation

I personally think that you should get a Saltwater tank and convert your 29G into a Sump-Pump (Like a big filter) and sell all of your FW fish to a pet store or something.

I would keep the existing fish and provide the larger home that you know they need simply because you have already made the commitment to them.
