I just woken to find some of my fish dead, the tank is sandbased and i did a 10% water change yesterday plus clean my filters aswell, as i noticed that the water was going cloudy, probably cased by the sand being stirred up, i was wondering wether sand in the water may of cased the fish trouble breathing. I 'm now going to test the water aswell. Any advice please.

Maybe it is poisoned,,...clean the whole aquarium, first set a substitute for the aquarium to pit the fish in it(with water). then get all the water in aquarium, also the sand. the clean the aquarium maka... make sure you won't clean it with a soap..... just rinse it......
Then put the sand in,,, get a plate.. put it in the bottom... when pitting water.. let it pass the plate so that the sand wont scatter....then if some sand is scattered leave it at least 30 min... finally put the fish back in..

Probably the temperature of the water you put is different than the temperature of the aquarium, this causes sudden change to the fish's environment in which the fish can't really adapt too quickly, that's why they are in a controlled environment....

The sand stirring should not be a problem, i repeat, it is not a problem, because if your filter works correctly, in about a few minutes the clarity of the tank shold be ok....

Your fish could've had a different symptoms of dying, not just the one you expect....

So do a water test and make sure that the tank is not contaminated in anyway.....

Ouch. You cleaned your filters to well. They are bacteria based I assume and now they will take a week or two to work properly again.

If the sand was there all the time it can not be the sand.
