Is this a good 29 gallon aquarium stocking?

Question

4-5 skunk botia loaches (not clown loach, skunk loach)
8 platies
2 opaline gouramis (female and female)
1 paradise gourami

Is that a decent stocking, and can I add any more fish (maybe just a few more, or is that good?)

By the way, the inch per gallon rule is sucky and not true :)

As long as you're prepared for the babies (like you said), you're in pretty good shape... The only other thing I would watch for is with the Gouramis. Paradise Gouramis can be very aggressive towards other Gouramis, so be sure to monitor his every move for the first week or so. I love Loaches! You will certainly not be disappointed with these guys! I'm not sure "sucky" sufficiently describes the "1 inch of fish per gallon" "rule"...

I think you're good on your numbers as long as you watch your feeding, filtration, and maintenance, but I wouldn't try keeping the paradise with the opaline gourami - both species have the tendency to be territorial, so I would choose either the pair of opals or the paradise and leave it at that. Be sure to include some plants and other hiding areas since eith of the gourami types may show some aggression to the tankmates (especially if the opals spawn).

Sounds like a good setup. Will be pretty with all those colours in there. I wouldn't suggest gettin any more but then again I am the worst for over stocking my tanks.....coz when there are new fish in I always grab them. Just remember though that the opaline gouramis will grow to about 15cm.

i have almost everyfish that u have listed i have 12 skunk loaches 2 pearl gouramis and 2 paradise fish and its a planted tank
