If you got actual cherry salmon, this is what you have: http://www.finesalmon.com/Salmon_Food/Salmon_Species/Cherry_Salmon.asp

Considering they're anadromous, they'll need a period of saltwater (to mimic migration to the ocean) then back to freshwater (back to their river where they were spawned) to lay eggs.

Doesn't sound like something you can keep in a tank or backyard pond.

Hi there
Cherry Salmon: Length 28 in ; weight 22 lb. They live in rivers, generally inhabit headwaters. They are very defensive of their feeding territory. They feed on insects and on small crustaceans and fishes. The sea-run form goes downstream forming schools. After a short stay in the brackish zone it enters the sea, where it feeds on small fishes and pelagic crustaceans.

Coloration variable and it depends on age, habitat or subspecies. Most common is general yellowish coloration and two series of gray oval spots with more smaller spots on most the body.

Unfortunately, breeding information is very limited. We only know that it is anadromous and spawns between August and October. Some Asian hatcheries adding hormones to the diet to make these fish grow faster and reproduce more. They got the name "cherry" because they repoduce during cherry blossom time. Eggs are buried in unguarded nests.
These fish are edible, broiled or baked:(
