Ok,
I work at a Pet Shop and I'm into the whole aquarium thing. I know a lot about tank maintenance and so far I've had 2 "customers" so I decided to make my own side business to help with college and expenses.

I tried just mentioning it to customers who come in, especially those telling me they have problems keeping their tanks clean, etc..Im thinking of having business cards printed, I can get them for like 10 dollars, (what to put on them, picture wise logo, i have no clue)...

Now, what do I tell them to have them interested? I basically am a stranger to them when mentioning this...and I base my prices on like the size of the tanks..

For a customer, I would be taking my own "equipment", as in, a tube connecting to the sink n the other end into the tank, my own water conditioners, water parameter studies, and myself (transportation getting there n back). I've charged 30 dollars for cleaning a 20 gallon tank, for 2 1/2 hours...

any questions, ill respond in the in the details part

I was thinking of having some fish and bamboo added to my office. Are small freshwater fish compatible with the "lucky bamboo" that one can buy from the store if both were placed in a decent sized vase or other glass container?

When I bought my hornwart home I noticed it had a couple of snails that hitched a ride....

So I asked on here about them....and everyone said "Get rid of them! they will take over your tank!"

And for teh record, I listened, and now I have 4 snails in a jar, that I was thinking about putting in a 2.5 gallon tank I'm not using and was thinking about making into a snail and shrimp tank anyhow.....

But what are they?

They are tiny things, but one has managed to get quite large in the last 2 weeks. The largest is a little smaller than a hearing aid battery, and the smallest is the size of cupcake sprinkle.

They have brownish-red shells and dark grey bodies....

No distinctive "sworl" patterns to the shells yet....

Any guesses?

both fish look similar except the ciclid has orange on it's fins and blue around the mouth. Of course one would have to be Male and the other female. I always wondered that if like people and Dogs, do fish and will they crossbreed. Considering the temp is right and the aquarium is good for both What do you think?

I just bought a compact fluorescent fixture for my 55 gallon tank. It has 2 bulbs for a total of 130 watts. Is this considered as moderate lighting? I have onion plants, green hedges, micro swords, and Brazilian swords; will these live? Do I need to add iron fertilizer each month to keep them green?

Also, how do I keep the algae off of them? I had the tank full of java ferns for about 2 months and they are covered in brown algae. I had to set up a 10 with a dozen oto's to clean them. Short of adding a few dozen oto's to my 55, what else can I do to keep them clean?

Of neon tetras?
Thats just a matter of curiosity....

But whats the minimum number of platys or guppies I should get?

Can a gourami (Dwarf Blue) live alone? (otherwise, he's not going in the tank)

Thanks for educating me and helping me select my fish y'all.....

Its a 5 gallon marine land tank with a Biowheel.

I have a freshwater master test kit.....
A thermometer
A Fish net
And a heater....

And its all planted, and I'm waiting for it to cycle (doing the fishless thing)

What else would you suggest I get?
I'm placing an order right now for another (better) heater and just trying to think if I need anything else, so I can save on shipping.

Any suggestions? Stuff that might come in handy?

Platys?
Guppies?

I'ld like to get two of the three, but if that can't happen, it can't happen.

i am a first-timer and i have a 28L (around 6-7 gallon) tank. I dont understand all the amonia and nitrite stuff i find on the internet... i only know how to test the PH. my local aquarium guy has taught me so much but never told me anything about the sciency stuff. he just told me to turn on the filter and air pump for at least 4 days (its a pretty smalll tank). but now the water is all cloudy and murky(excuse spelling!!) and the PH shot right up to alkaline is there something i am doing wrong? how can i make it better? It also smells a bit strange...
Why might it stink? could it be that i left the lid of the tank shut? should i disconnect the lid?

I have a Top Fin Aquascene 5 Aquarium Kit from Petsmart. The filter that came with it is called Whisper micro filter. The directions are so confusing to me... basically, the way the filter is set up, it makes it so the cord is actually in the water. Is this normal? the cord says "fully sumbmergible" on it... please help!

I work for a pet store and I'm often needled with comments and complaints about our high prices on aquarium fish. I've asked my manager(s) about this, and they could only respond that "the price of the supplier increased, so we increased our price to make a profit". I've researched prices for the most commonly asked about species, and I've found that our prices are very close to competitors prices- some higher and some lower. My father and I discussed this, and he does admit that, while our prices aren't drastically different than what he "can get elsewhere", the price of aquarium fish, both freshwater and marine, has increased recently in the past year or two. I know that the price of market fish- cod, haddock, sole, etc- increased due to tariffs and trade restrictions in the UK and such, but what is the reason behind the spike in aquarium fish prices? Is it for the same reason? Or is there another reason I haven't come across in my research on the subject?

I have a 55G tank that's been up for about a year. I'd like to add more plants so I want to know what a good model CO2 system is.

I'd also like to upgrade my power filter to a canister filter.
Also, what's a good brand/model for a canister filter?

I'm on a ramen noodle budget if you catch my drift ...

Thanks in advance!

I already asked this question but I am putting it in more detail.

I just purchased a fish tank today. I know nothing about how to set up a fish tank but I managed to do it anyways. I added the water and accessories and after about 10 minutes of letting it filter I added Aquasafe. After a while, at the corners of the fish tank, there something started to appear. It was clearish-whitish (I'm not really good at describing things).

I washed the stones I put in the tank before I put it in the tank. I washed the tank too. I don't have any gravel in the tank, no fish either.

I wanted to know if that is how the fish tank is supposed to be or did I do something wrong.

My fish have ick, I have used Ick Clear (Jungle) How is the tank supposed to look after you put the medicine in? It started clouding in a couple hours, so I put the filter in afterwards. The fish's ick symptoms seem to be worsing. What should I do? Put in more medicine?

I have a rather small aquarium with fluro pebbles and 3 fake plants. I have a heater, an air pump and an under-gravel filter. i have nearly finished the cycling process (as my local aquarium guy told me) but all the info i find on the internet tells me that my fish might die... the guy told me to cycle my tank for under a week, its only a 28L (around 7 gallon) tank... so yer...
I want to gradually get more fish. i dont think the size and environment would allow the fish to grow too big anyway. First i want to get one angelfish, a yoyo loach and something else... (maybe another angelfish or a dwarf gourami) then gradually i want to get a few more... i dont really like guppies and tetras... too small... What do u think? im only a beginner so please be nice!!
