Anything with a rhizome will work. Java fern and anubias are great.

What are you trying to do exactly? I live on the BC coast, the veritable home of driftwood and rocks, and I'm a gardener, so let us know more and maybe I'll have more details.

You don't often see plants growing "on" these materials, but they can be incorporated into gardens in a stunning way. You can also drill holes in the driftwood, or take advantage of natural divets, to accommodate planters.

You can definitely get moss to grow on them. Keep them in shade and let the moss feed on a mix of soil and beer. That's a nice Zen look, if that's what you're after.

Anubias grow slowly but they are very pretty!
