I have a snowflake eel used to have a chainlink but he found a hole and i didnt find him in time. So now hes gone and the snow flakes happy(got bullied by this guy). Now i do want to replace the eel but not with a chainlink. Ive though of zebra, barred, snowflakes, and a jeweled(the kind that grows to 2-2.5 feet not the 5 footer. Just wanted to know which ones you thought i could do in this tank that wouldnt bully the snowflake OR if i could put a new chainlink in without the snowflake thinking the bully came back if i get a smaller one that is.

My betta has got some small rips at the end of his fins. I think he got tangled in a small silk plant I did notice one day he was tangled in it before and probably should have remove it then, there is only silk plants and smooth river rocks in with him.I have removed the offending plant and he is in a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter.I am just wondering if it will take along time for his fins to heal and is there anything I should watch for while they do.

My two comet goldfish are six years old now, and I’m worried if all this time I have been unintentionally cruel to them by not looking after them properly?
What can I do for my fish to give them a better life? (it’s okay if it’s something expensive)

Their tank is 15inch long, 8inch high, 7inch wide.
They have an undergravel filter.
In their tank they only have gravel, some marbles, a rock with a hole in the middle, and one plastic plant.
I feed them “K9 Fish Food For Goldfish” which are floating-sinking pellets.
I try to change a quarter to half their water once a week (although honestly I occasionally forget).

Recently I added some fish to a tank I had had cycling with a pair of mosquito fish (local minnows) Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate were all good (amm. and nitrite non detectable, nitrate the lowest reading on the color chart) at least untill the fish started dying anyway. Temp. was at 76 degrees and pH around 7.4. I added three cory's and 10 glowlight tetras to the tank (its a 30gal so plenty of room) one cory on arriving home I noticed had a red area on a fin... looked like maybe damage from transport. Fish were floated and properly aclimated. Later that night he stiffened, floated. The next day the other two corys' followed. Then about one week later the others began to die. They show no symptoms untill their bodies turn milky ( but not on the skin like a fungus) Most died within 24 hours of onset. Some of the ones who lasted longer developed lesions. Resistant to melafix as well as anti fungal tablets. Assuming bacterial... any ideas?

One of my betta fish has Dropsy, diagnosed by the pinecone appearance of her scales, and rather bloated belly. Everything I've researched says at this point there is no way to save her, but that my best hope if I want to try would be to place her in isolation and treat her with bactaria killer. I have plenty on hand and have done so, but at this point she has a very low chance of recovery.

Instead, it is more likely her kidney's have failed and she will die very slowly over the next few days, I can have her put down now, but I am still debating with myself if I should try to treat or put her down...

1.)Do koi and goldfish need a(n) airpump/filter?
2.)Are there any fish that absolutly need filters?
3.)Do mollies need filters, dwarf frogs?

I just started a new tank about 3 or 4 months ago. I began with 3 mollies and 3 goldfish. Right now, my mollies have died out and 2 goldfish remain. The two goldfish were bullied by one of the mollies and one goldfish is unusually large in the stomach and the base of it's tail is rotting away, and the other goldfish is extemely thin and its mouth is deteriorating. I want to get rid of these fish, I cannot stand looking at their abnormalities.

What is the easiest/most ethical way to kill your fish?

it could be set up against an outside wall, but my main concern is this room is above the garage.. our washer/dryer, furnace & water heater are also upstairs, just down the hall.

i could possibly set it up in a different room on the 2nd floor (with the wife's approval) that has more support.

we have an orange goldfish with white all over him, we were told he's a comet but now he's really big and in a 125 gallon fish tank. We just noticed tonight that on one of his sides his scales are kind of sticking up a little and on that same side hes bigger, it looks swollen on one side and not the other. He's around 3 years old and we have 2 other other large goldfish and their fine. Any one have this problem. Please help, these goldfish are a huge part of our family and it would hurt to loose one.

My 55- gallon fish tank of goldfish has ich, and the quick cure medicine has a completely different dosage for tetra fish than marine fish, but it doesn't say what fish are considered what. The dosage is doubled for marine fish. I gave them the amount for a tetra so I wouldn't overdose them, and they don't look better. does anyone know what goldfish are considered? My search only comes back as tetra brand fish food, and that doesn't help me.
Thanks.
Heather
