Yes. It's a good idea. Your glass is too strong to worry about scratching it with a razor blade. Be careful about the corners though. Try to stay away from any silicone beads that are joining the tank together. Otherwise, you may give yourself a leak. The silicone is easily cleaned with a sponge. If you're not certain about the razor blade, try the pet store. There are a ton of various scrapers. Most have a plastic blade. Enjoy!

It's a good idea.

It will get off the algae better than a sponge.

Be careful not to scratch the glass, or cut the fish! :^)

Yes, i have tried it and its much more effective than scrubbing with a algae sponge (takes a few scrubs before the algae comes out). The only thing i would be worried about is scraping near the silicone.

You really shouldnt. Stores have special scrubbing sponges that are for aquariums. There's also a product that has 2 parts, both with magnets in them. That way you put one part in the tank, one outside of the tank and move it with your hand, that way your hand won't get all wet.

Depends, if the glass is tempered,-- no problem. If it's soft(like Oceanic tanks, real thick),then care must be exercised to avoid scratching. If it's acrylic DON'T.
