Clowns will accept a wide variety of dry and live foods, but their preference is for live foods.. especially worms. Even earthworms can be fed to them, as long as you harvest the worms from soil that hasn't been fertilized recently.

Undemanding by nature, they can be fed a general tropical food and bloodworms too.

You are probably unable to see when your loach is eating because unlike many loaches who are active at day and night, the clown loach is very active during the night hours and comes out to feed.

Clown loaches are bottom feeders. They will scavenge for food and should eat most anything that makes it to the bottom. I don't have any clowns but I have used the Wardley Shrimp Pellets for my corys and they love them (as do the pleco, angel fish and Siamese algae eaters).

Try live black worms to get them started eating in your aquarium. They cannot resist them. Sooner or later, they'll eat anything that gets to the bottom. Clown loaches are pretty hardy overall and eat well.

Clown loaches usually respond very well to brine shrimp pellets and also to any type of frozen worms. They will eventually eat almost any sinking foods.

my clowns love hikari sinking algae wafers.

They're not carnivores... they're omnivores.

Another good pellet for them is whardley sinking shrimp pellet. Those are available at walmart & pretty much everywhere for cheap.

Sally's / san francisco frozen bloodworms are also good.
