Shark

2007-04-26 15:40:08 · answer #1 · answered by Cathy S 3 · 0 0

There are no fish that can blink. Fish do not have eyelids. Some predatory fish have a protective membrane which will cover the eye when the jaw of the fish is extended to prevent bones and debris from puncturing the eye.

PS
Although I have a friend Ringo Fish he blinks!

A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes at the same time.

It's very late..but surely the blinking mechanism is only appropriate for terrestrial animals, to moisten the eye to prevent drying out? Unless you're thinking of sharks which close their eyes using a protective membrane when they roll over for the 'kill'. Top Tip: this gives you the edge when attacked by a great white..in the last second the beast is biting blind..which gives you the chance to gouge the eye sockets, kick it in the gills or punch its nose..let us know how you get on!?
