My 55- gallon fish tank of goldfish has ich, and the quick cure medicine has a completely different dosage for tetra fish than marine fish, but it doesn't say what fish are considered what. The dosage is doubled for marine fish. I gave them the amount for a tetra so I wouldn't overdose them, and they don't look better. does anyone know what goldfish are considered? My search only comes back as tetra brand fish food, and that doesn't help me.
Thanks.
Heather

Treat as if they are tetra fish. Full strength for goldfish.

Marine are salt water and Quickcure cannot be used to treat saltwater ich. (No matter what the bottle says)

You did right, however you will want to treat for no less than 7 days. If you still see spots after 7 days keep treating or repeat the process.

Sometimes ich can be cleared quickly and other times with heavy infections may take much longer.

Follow the instructions. If it says to do a water change while treating then do it. Do not add other medicines or additives while treating for ich.

Good Luck and sorry to hear about your fish.

If your Quick Cure is the brand name stuff made with malachite green and formalin, you want to use one drop per gallon.

Tetras are sensitive to copper medications, so the dose for them is half of what it is for other fish.

Also - don't medicate for three days like the bottle says - this is how long it takes for the parasites to fall off the fish. They are only affected by the medication when they're in the water, so you should treat ich for 10-14 days, or at least 3 days after you no longer see spots on the fish!

A marine fish is a salt water fish. A goldfish is in the fresh water carp family as are koi.

Goldfish are neither marine or tetra...

They are goldfish...

Did you take the carbon/charcoal out of the filter? If you didn't, it won't work. Carbon/charcoal is used to purify the water. It will filter out whatever medicine you put in.

Take out the carbon/charcoal, and try the dose again...

If that doesn't work, try using aquarium salt. I find that aquarium salt is an even better cure for ich/ick than medications.

I'm not sure how much aquarium salt to put in, so ask the pet store...

Good Luck

sounds like the medication you have is the wrong stuff, you have the meds for tropical. I used quick cure for freshwater fish at 5ml per 5 gallons and it worked like a charm, remember to remove carbon filter ( I'm sure you already know)
