I have a 29 gallon tank with a 30-60 Gallon Filter, an adjustable heater that keeps the water at 76-80F. In it I currently have 1 male betta, 2 neons, 1 male bronze cory, 1 female bronze cory, 2 female peppered cories, and 1 balloon molly. I feel bad considering that most of these fish are schooling fish, so I want to get some more fish. I was thinking of getting 4 more neons, 2 more bronze corydoras, 2 more peppered corydoras, and 3 female balloon mollies. So the tank would read the following
- 6 neons 9"
- 4 bronze corydoras 8"
- 4 peppered corydoras 12"
- 4 balloon mollies 8"
- 1 male betta 3"
19 fish total
40" of fish total
Considering the fact that I have overfilteration and do 1/3 water changes every weekend, would this be overcrowded?

Sorry, the balloon molly is a female, and I would only be getting more females ;)

Thanx Barb R, the balloon mollies would be at 12" total, not 8"

That would be pushing things quite a bit, especially considering the babies you would get from the mollies before long. I would suggest leaving off the additional mollies.

No. You're good. That 1" fish rule isn't exact and has been debunked. None of your fish are heavy bioload fish either. Plecos, cichlids and goldfish are the big waste producers. Adjust the mollies though..they're 3 inches full grown :) But you are still good with the extra filtration and the water changes :)

And MM..you don't think the betta will take care of babies? Any livebearer tank can get overcrowded if not culled out or taken back to the shop :)

Do not add more till your tank is over 8 weeks of age, then add a few every month till you get the amount your disire. They say 1 inch of fish per Gallon of water. Do not by more bottom dwellers you have enough corys. The Mollies will reproduce so watch out or you will over load. Check your Nitrite's and PH. Keep up with a water change 1 time a month 25% but no more. Keep 1 tsp. of Aquarium salt in the tanlk per each 5 gals. of water. If you get more get a better filter that will do 150 gal. per hour.

I think that is overcrowding the fish. If I was you I would school just one type of the fish like the neons, and either take back the balloon molly or male betta.
