Angels and very small fish like neons can be a problem because as the angels grow they will consider the small fish to be food. Try some slightly larger tetras, like beacon fish, congo tetras, lemons, bleeding hearts, things of that size group. Of course, all of those should be kept in a group of 5 or more. The sucker mouth fish of choice would be some type of plecostomus or pleco for short. Depending on the size of your tank you might look into bristlenose, zebra or gold nugget plecos. The regular pleco you see in stores is the common pleco and gets far too large for most tanks. They get about 14-18" long. The others are more rare, but smaller and pretty cool looking. The most common sucker mouth fish in discount stores is a Chinese algae eater and really should be avoided. One, they don't eat algae well and two, they get really mean when they get larger.
Hope that helps you decide!

I'm with MagicMan on this one. Neons are delicate and dainty fish and angelfish are, no matter how graceful and pretty, cichlids. They're territorial and aggressive to smaller fish that look like snacks to them. Also, you don't mention what size your tank is so it's hard t recommend different types. If angels is what you'd like to build the tank around, please see info below from Elmer's Aquarium:
Compatibility/Behavior: They are slow moving and compatible with similar sized fish. They are graceful swimmers and look good in groups of 4 or more. For best results, get a group of 6 or more angels and make them the primary fish in the tank. Just mix a few other fish with them. An "angelfish oriented tank" can be planted with some tall plants, and decorated with shale rocks.

If you prefer to keep angels as part of a community tank here are some suggestions: gouramis, sharks, silver dollars, active tetras, swordtails, moons. Do not mix medium sized angels with guppies or neons. If an angel gets too big it may have to be separated. Angels are less likely to pick on other fish if they are in groups of 3 or more. Make sure all angels are of similar size. (Community #3, Community #4)
Tank Conditions: Standard tank conditions are suitable. For a very impressive tank keep a group of 6 or more with some tall plants such as Saggitaria, Brazilian Swords, or Sandriana. To view community 3 and 4 fishes, see their website listed below: Simply click on the fish care charts under freshwater and it will list all sorts of different fish. Click on angel and it will give you all the info plus links to the community including the size requirements of the tank and compatibility.

Of course you can keep angels and tetras together, but only tetra's that are large enough not to be considered food. Sure it will work at first, but the angels will grow up.
Neons are a natural food for Angels in the wild. Predator and prey - not a good combo.
Be careful when choosing a 'sucker fish'. Many are aggressive, most of them get big, so it really depends on the size of your tank. Of course, Angels get big and can be territorial and shouldn't be kept in anything less then a 30 gallon anyway.

I love an aquarium. Angels, neons, swordtails, mollies, tiger barbs, zebra danios, and platys, all live together nicely. The swords , mollies, and platys are live beaers and the angel fish love to eat them.
The "sucker" might be a plecostamus.(spelling may need some fixing there.)

angel fish will eat the neons when they get bigger... you could always get a bunch of pretty tetras to go together.... neons will go with them... you could also get a betta... they are pretty.... make sure you have enough room for these fish though... a 10 gallon tank might not suffiice if you plan on having a lot of fish....

I would not recommend angelfish and tetras, but tetras and a pleco (sucky fish) mak ea good combo. Neon tetra like to school in groups of five or more.
