You'd need a very large tank for both to be able to set up their own territory. At least 40-50 gallons per fish, in a mature tank with plenty of live rock, is recomended for them to have adequate copepods for feeding. Neither is an easy fish to care for and they more often starve in aquaria for lack of adequate food sources.

Both are about equally hard to care for, but i like the looks of the spotted mandarin.

Dragonets are very hard fish to keep in the aquarium. You would need at least a 90 gallon tank to keep 2 of them.

Their diet is so needy that it is likely they will starve in less than a month. You have to target feed them live brine shrimp and blood worms. If there are any other fish in the tank, it is likely they will eat all the food before the dragonet has a chance. They will also sift through sand and graze on live rock for food.

A refugium is almost a necessity since it will provide the needed vitamins and nutrition.

If you're certain you can care for one of these, I would choose the spotted mandarin. They just look awesome!

Good Luck!

a similar is asserted for firefish, yet I even have one purple and one common (purple) and that they do no longer combat. To be on the secure element, i could advise procuring a male of one type and a female of yet another type. it is not any longer no longer elementary to tell, seem on the dimensions of their larger fins. I had some success getting my mandarin to consume frozen food, I also have a FOWLR tank and that i turn off the pump on a similar time as feeding the tank to feed the horseshoe crab. The brine shrimp could fall onto the rock, and the dragonett will consume the small ones. you additionally can purchase stay cultures of copepods to feed them.
