I just have no idea if my betta is eating or not. I do notice the food going to the bottom of the tank. The instructions say to feed the betta 2 times a day 6 little pellets each meal , the pellets are supposed to float but they always go to the bottom, I have some gravel and toys at the bottom so it's hard to see what's happening with the food. How do you know if your fish is eating?.

My betta has a white spot on his upper left side. Im pretty sure its not ich because hes been in there for a couple weeks and nothing has happend to my other fish. Its not gotton bigger or smaller, but the color has gotten whiter along with his yellow skin ( color enhancing flakes). He also has a little knot ( bump) on his right side just before where his fin starts. While im asking these questions, atn the end of his middle fin, he has little clear strands that turn to red as they near the rest of the fin. Is this a very sick betta or a VERY unique one? PLEASE HELP ANYBODY!!!

I bought 4 Neon Tetras to go along with my 2 Red Eyed Tetras. The Neons, within like 3 days of putting them in the tank developed white spots, and literally started rotting alive...it looked like the dreaded NTD. This was a span of 7 days. My 2 Red Eyes, which i've had since October seem to be just fine. All the neons died at the same time, Saturday night, and it is now Monday morning. Should i worry about the Red Eyes?

me and two of my friends are about to start a mini aquarium, i was just wondering whats the best and cheapest way to set up a tank for only, 4 or 5 fish. freshwater.
is there anything we should know?
how do we clean the tank.
what size tank should we get. [in litres]
how often do we feed them?

Every week, about 2x's a week, I change the water in my 55 gallon freshwater aquarium, b/c there is alot of poopies. I've only been able to take out 5 gallons each change, b/c I only have a 5 gallon bucket to put the old water, and a 5 gallon bucket with the heated new water.
What I'm trying to find out is how I can change more than 5 gallons at a time. I have just one heater I can use for the water changes, and even the 5 gallon bucket can be too heavy for me to lift up to put in the tank.
Does anyone have any experiences, suggestions or ideas that may be able to help me?

We just inherited 3 aquariums from a friend of my wifes. They are in good shape but it looks to me like they were just emptied and stored, so naturally the bottoms are nasty, and the sides could be cleaned up as well. I know you have to use special stuff on them. Any suggestions?

I noticed today that my bubble star stopped working and all the fish are swimming at the top of the tank. Is this to do with oxygen? i no they need it from the water but i never thought the bubbles made that much difference. (freshwater tank)

Brooklyn, NY to be exact, living in a house with enough property to build a pond outdoors, what are the pros and cons for raising Koi here, especially since we can have harsh winters? Some of the good reasons I can think of is that I wont have the problems of Racoons, foxes, Herons and other predators that prey on Fish...but what is the downside of Raising koi in the city?

I got a male betta fish with a small betta tank for my birthday.
( I already had a 15 gallon tank at home...) I have decided to move my betta from it's small half liter tank to a spare two gallon tank I had in storage.... Is it safe to put one of my algae eaters in with him in his new tank? If not/ what are some fish I could put in with him, if any? (I'd prefer some practical fish, like alae eaters to help keep my tank clean, etc)
