Yesterday we bought new goldfish and already the water is cloudy. The fish seem to be floating around at the surface to get more air... how often should the water in a plain bowl (not aquarium, without pumps) be changed?

Why is petco and petsmart soo cheap when it comes to fish tanks. When you buy the full set from them they give you the worst quality items for a lot of money. For example, they give you blue lighting(kills unique fish coloring example.. Flower Horns), they give you a minuture heater and a sucky filter. On top of that they give you no gravel, no thermometer and no aditional tank items. Pretty much they are selling you a 30 gallon tank set at 120 dollars When the tank itself costs 30 dollars, the heater 7, the filter 25. I think this is a rip off and we should kill petco by throwing chicken at them till they explode

My guppie just had 10 babies and i was wondering if i should put them in their own tank or leave them in the tank divider that they are in now they are in a section a 10 gallon tank. I was also wondering if they need a heater i already have on but i was wondering if they really need one? also do the filters and pumps add alot to your electricity bill? And how often should i change the water

I've heard all the stories about Wal-Mar being the worst place to get pet fishes.. but I went ahead and got some tetras there anyway. They're actually doing fine right now.. but if they die, would it be possible to get a refund? I would actually feel weird if I had to show up to Customer Service, show them my dead fish and ask for a refund.. haha.

I tried the Ph up drops to get it to 7.0 because it is usually around 6.2 - 6.6. After i add the drops and wait about an hour or so, i test it and it always stays the same or gets lower. Then i tried the automatic pH tablets that bring it to 7.0. I tested it and again it stayed the same! Why does this keep happening? Is there anyway i can bring it up to 7.0?

I have 2 medium size fantails, a small fantail, and 2 algae eaters. Please be specific. I don't know how much a small amount is like it says on the package.

I just got a large used aquarium from someone and it needed a really good cleaning. I've been working on it and it looks much better but the glass still has that cloudy look. A previous owner let the water level go way down and lime built up on the glass. I don't know what else I can use to remove it that would not be harmful to the fish that will be put in later. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions.

A few years ago, my mother went to a doctor, who had a fish and a plant inside a closed container. The fish cleaned the plant (and therefore didn't need to be fed), and the plant cleaned the water (and therefore the plant water didn't need to be changed), and the two lifed in harmony without human intervention for years.

What type of fish was it? What type of plant was it?

HELP Anyone.. I just purchased a new 63 Gallon Aqua-Vim Lake View Aquarium. I installed my decorations, Series 60 Whisper Air pump, and a new external canister 3 bucket water filter. I also added a water dechloriantor.

Overnight I wake up to find my water in the aquarium completely cloudy and unclear. I checked the connections on the canister filter, they are fine, I also checked to see if my pump was blocked, all fine there. I'm not sure what to do?

Help? Any "respectful" advice is appreciated. I am obviously a novice in a learning stage.

Thank you..

JP

i just got some (4) ghost shrimp to keep my little 2.5G Qtank clean (and interesting). when i purchased them, they were obviously full - big colorful full stomachs - but since then they never look like there is that much food in them. i don't think i'm feeding them too little, and i don't want to overfeed on a whim, but is this a sign that they aren't eating enough, or were they just overstuffed at the LFS? so far they have a tank with a little algae growth and a few fish flakes for supplement.
