A male will have a long, pointed dorsal fin. Also, will be mostly blue/gray/violet with a bit of yellow to the fins.

A female has a shorter, more rounded dorsal and will have an orange/pink color to the abdomen - more pronounced when breeding, but usually always noticeable.

the top fin if male the back of it will be pointed and female it will be rounded

usually it is the prettier one. Because that is how nature is the male is more pretty so the female can be protected so it is not so pretty.
