Whn you first bring them home, do you put the bag in your tank so they get used to the temperature of the water?, how long?. How many times a day should I feed him?. Thanks

Well first let me start by saying if it wasn't for having never owned a black guppy i could answer this on my own just fine but i have never had a black guppy..

She is a large, 85% black female.... and seeing that i have never had a fish die from petsmart she is another spectacular petsmart fish! ((There-fore she may possibly be already pregnant))

Her gravid spot ((spot where the eggs are)) is black all the eggs black which in any other colored fish mean she's pregnant.... But does her color automatically maker them black?

I have a 30 gallon fish tank with 2 large flower horns, one large pleco, and one small Red devil. i know.. i know.. my tank is over crouded, but ive gone to all these fish stores with even more crouded fish tanks and the water is still crystal clear. Recently my tank got extremely mirky as a result of my 80 percent water change(annoying parents forced me). So i decided to take all my fish to a fish store and he kept it for me for a hole week. In this time my entire fish tank because extremely clear. I have just recently added my fish back to my tank today and im hoping to keep it clear. So far i know i have replaced the filter cartaliges(i have 2 filters one 30 gallon filter and one 10 gallon filter.) Im not going to feed them alot and im keeping the tank clean with my net by taking out all the poop. I have put in amquel to reduce amonia, and a chemical that gets rid of chlorine and all other heavy metals(aqua safe). Are there any tips that anyone can give to help me(like lighting etc)

and I mean like..constantly, not the normal every few minutes. It looks like he's catching food from the surface every second but I already fed him this morning (and I only fed 3 pallets) and theres not food in the water. This always causes another problem, he starts to float after gulping so much air. He looks like he can't swim down (infact its hard for him to even swim forward!) and he just swims a little and gulps swims and gulp...Whats wrong with him?? This is the second time, last time he also keeps gulping air from the surface and ended up just floating at the top for 2 days and returned to normal (he has only been normal for 3 days). Can someone help please?

remember: he keeps gulping air THEN he starts floating and find it hard to swim (after a few hours of gulping air..). Also I just did a water change a few hours ago. No symptoms of bloated belly or any unhealthy look or behaviour (not constipated). The last time this happened, there wasN'T a water change done...

thx

Hi, I was wondering. How big do swordtails get? Is there any size differences between the different types? I'm mainly interested in green, painted, pineapple, marigold and neon. But red or velvet would be ok also. If you know the size they get when they reach adulthood, then please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

I have one betta fish and an apple snail that i just introduced to a .5gallon starter tank. My betta fish is pretty cranky (he flares a lot) but i did some research and i've been told that they would be ok together. My betta Moe keeps flaring and staring poor Scoot down, but hasn't nipped at him or anything. Should i be concerned... or should i give them some time to get used to each other. The snail doesn't seem to be bothered at all by the betta. If any of you have some experience with bettas and snails i'd quite appreciate your answers. thanks!

Is there some sort of fish or crab what will clean up the left overs in my tank. I'm trying to find something that won't grow that fast or big. pleco's would get way too big.
