You will notice the fish isolate themself away from the others, sometimes the other ones will swim to the preg. one but leave right away. Most of the time they stay hidden at the bottom. When it gets closer to time you might not see it come out at all. Usually when they do lay eggs or have the babies they are left alone, then later after having them the other fishes come near her. But if you have alot of fish first born and they gradually start to disapear dont worry it happens.

While most fish just lay eggs. Molly, swordtail/platy, and guppy do get pregnant. The females will get a big belly, and often show a black spot on their bellies if the fish is light colored. Generally a day or 2 before giving birth they will hide out near the bottom, and often chase away other fish.

PS- A live bearer can have several batches before needing a male.

Yes I know for like mollies that there stomachs get big but not like too bloated. That is a certain disease fish get when their stomachs get too filled with air. Some fish have live births and some have eggs. Weird huh. Oh yeah and males and females can switch sexes too.

Their belly start to swell and they usually stay at the bottom of the tank, perferably behind plants, etc. to keep away from the other fish.

Their body gets bigger, they tend to isolate themselves and other fishes don't want to touch them; also they swim slower and are more sluggish
