I have a 30 gallon freshwater tank that is already established. i have about 20 fish total in side all doing very well.
my question is if it is possible for me to change the gravel that i have to live sand or is it only for saltwater? and if it is possible for fresh water will that possibly kill my fish from the change?

I just purchased a 5 gallon hex with bio wheel, light, etc., and I am wondering what would be the best fish to get? I already have a betta in another tank, and I was hoping to get new kinds (fish, snail, etc) for this new tank, but I am concerned about the depth (being a hex tank), as well as the amount of space! Any possible combos would be great! Thanks~

a hybrid or a midas. They say pure red devils have fleshy lips which he does. They say the midas has black eyes and the red devil has red eyes. But his eyes are mostly black, with an incomplete circle of mostly red with yellow at the tip. Please tell me what kind of red devil or midas this is?

I recently brought 2 gold fish but one of them died. Could some one tell me why she died and how can I take care of other gold fish. What are the things I need to put in water? How often do I need to change the water.

Hi, we have a 200 gallon pond. It is not covered and as we live in the tropics it has sun all year round. We use algea control and water clarifier when vacuuming. But lately we noticed that the fish (gold fish) are like sleeping at the bottom of the pond and today we found one dead. We are planning to make a pergola to cover the area directly above the pond but do not know if this will suffice. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am deciding whether to start a fresh water fish tank or a salt water fish tank. I have heard arguments on both sides on which tank is easier to keep. I know that salt water fish are a lot prettier than fresh water fish. Is there any nice fresh water fish that are colorful like salt water fish? I have a 40 gallon tank. Any suggestions?

On another topic… I had a beta fish that died after about 2 days of switching his water. I used half Brita filtered water and half bottled water. A couple days after he died I got 2 gold fish and they died very soon also. I cleaned and changed the water with the new gold fish but used the same combo of water. Is Brita water bad for fish?

My cousin has a bunch of fish tanks. They are always healthy looking but smometimes if they haven't delivered over 40 days she takes a needle and slices open the stomache. Why are the fry surviving? Why is she doing this isn't their a more humane way to get the mother to have her babies? Keep in mind this girl is 10 and you know how impatient little kids are when it comes to things like this. I am having the same problem with one of my guppies should I do this? If not how can I get her to stop? Other then that she like an expert on fish. I only own 2 tanks while sh ehas like 4 around her room. P.S. each tank contains a different species and she does this with her endler's livebearers and guppies.

I would like to make my own little fishie hide awys for my tank. The ones I have seen are of the most atrocious colors. I've heard that I should use the silicone stuff to make it, but what about using a hotglue gun? Will that work or will it have negative affects on my tank and fish?

She's swimming jerkily and her stomach looks swollen. And she doesn't seem to be eating. She also seems to stay towards the bottom of the tank. I have her in a standard fish bowl. Not quite a gallon. That's as big as my mom will let me buy. This is my first fish and I don't know what I should do. Help please!
