Goldfish and tetras would not be compatible. Not only will the goldfish eat them, the water temperature for neons needs to be quite a lot higher. Goldfish like cold water, in fact they will live quite nicely under ice in a frozen pond.

Please make sure your tank is large enough, as goldfish can get quite big. a good rule of thumb with goldfish is one square foot of water surface area for every inch of goldfish length (370 cm²/cm) or one gallon of water for every inch of maximum growth.

goldfiwsh only need to be fed oce or twice a day, as much food as they can consume in 1-2 minutes. If you overfeed, they will either die or create so much waster you are doing water changes every few days.

The down side is that tetras are more tropical fish, and like warmer temps than goldfish do. You may want to consider trying to find another cold water fish that is also compatible. However if you do have your heart set on tetras, do not keep your tank higher than 77. this causes damage tot he goldfish.
