There are no external differences between male and female Dragon Fish, also called Violet Gobies or Prehistoric Dragon Gobies, thus, you cannot tell by looking at them. You will only known when they finally attempt to spawn. You will need a group of 1 male to at least 3 females to achieve a successful spawn. The male will spawn with several females over the course of a day. And considering that each dragon goby will grow to 24 inches and needs 50 gallons of water each, you will need a 200 gallon tank to achieve a successful spawn.
