Basically as long as he's alive you're ok. Just start feeding the right amount from now on and you'll do fine.

You aren't supposed to feed a beta fish more than 3-4 pellets of food at a time for more than 3 times a day.
You can supplement one feeding with frozen brine shimp, etc.... for added nutrients.

If you are over feeding the fish's stomach will protrude on either side, he will become lethargic, and will not move alot.

If this happens do not feed him for a day or so (this wont hurt him) and he should be happy again. If he is still bloated give him a fresh green pea. (just one)
My vet says it helps clean out his system (kinda like a laxative).

:) hope this helps.

I only feed my bettas 3-5 Pellets 2x a day. Suplpementing with blood worms and brine shrimp now and then. I watch them eat and quickly remove anything they don't eat or that sank to the bottom of the tank. Overfeeding your fish can be fatal to the fish. A sure sign of over feeding is they look bloated. If the fish is bloated do not feed him for 2 days, if he remains bloated feed him a shelled mashed pea. That usually does the trick.

If you only feed a pinch of food, that will be enough. Also, if you remove any food that it doesn't eat after 5 minutes, you will ensure that, if you did feed it too much, it won't eat all the food that you fed it.
