1. Keep goldfish in bowls
2. Keep bettas in betta vases under 1/2 gallon
3. Overcrowd their tanks
4. Put oscars in tanks under 100 gallons
5. And most importantly, WHY do people think fish are just disposable pets? They might seem that way if you do the above. Fish have feelings too. Imagine if you were a goldfish that wants a big nice pond and you live in a puny bowl and die in 2days of ammonia poisoning!? How'd that feel?

Does anyone agree with me on this? DON'T get a fish if:

1. You won't keep it in a proper environment
2. Under or overfeed it
3. Won't care about it

WHO agrees? Come on peeps!

I'm thinking about buying a five gallon filtered tank for a betta fish to put in my office at work. Five gallon is the MAX i'm alloud to have here. I have a 29 gallon and 10 gallon tank at home, so I'm not a complete newbie to fish. My question is, would two females and a male get along... is that too small of a tank for that many fish, and would one male be okay by himself with maybe a few ottos in the tank to help keep things clean if I didn't get the three bettas? Any other betta advice? thanks!

I have never used it, but read that it works a lot faster than traditional cycling methods.

Hi,

Just to say that in my profile i stated that i am an animal lover so i feel strongly about any animal suffering. I go to pet shops and see huge great fish stuck in tiny tanks and it makes me so angry that is why i have a big 215 litre tank. It has plants in it and loads of places for the fish to hide. They are happy and healthy and people actually remark that the tank looks quite empty when they view it. (Good to know that there are other people out there who feel just as strongly about the welfare of animals as i do) :)

HI,

I have a. fish tank with balloon mollies, a fighter, one guorami, one kisser, a few cat fish, a couple of gobys, some hatchets, one ram, shrimps and apple snails. Apart from a bit of white spot (which is clearing up) the fish are healthy. I had a elephant nose fish that lasted for only two days in there, so i decided to get a test kit that tests the water fro everything. WEll the test kit showed the water conditions were perfect except for high alkaline readings. Does anyone know if this will affect t the fish and is there anything that can be done to reduce them (i don't really want to use chemicals in the tank)
