he's about 2.5 inches long from head to tip of tail (half body-half tail) and by himself in a five gallon tank

his fins just dont seem as big as most of the other pictures of beta ive seen

yes, it is probably fairly young. especially if he is in a 5 gallon tank. congrats on getting a good sized tank for him, it is not true that bettas like small closed spaces. feed him enough (but no more than he'll eat) and he should get bigger. I get almost all my bettas from walmart and they live just as long as any other, you just have to know how to take care of them. ones from walmart are often unhealthy but if you treat them they live just as long. good luck!

A little but no about more than 2 inches but it will get bigger the bettas rom walmart are NOT healthy hey live for about 7 months.But are very good pets.

I bet a beta from walmart and it lasted 3 years(from about the day we got it) and was bigger then that. so it could get bigger.

There are several different types of betta. You probably have a very standard but somthing like a Halfmoon, Plakad, Plakat, Crowntail, Giant Betta, and Flower horns varieties can be of differing sizes.

No. I was always told that Bettas were not supposed to be in big tanks the are open. If you have lots of things in there that resemble chinese water rice that they will feel more at home since that is were they are more commonly found. Being in an open environment may make them go crazy. Just what i heard.
