If you are referring to betta splendens ( siamese fighting fish ) it is very easy to tell the difference between the sexes.
The males are large, colourful and have very ornate fins. The females are drabber and have short stubby fins.
Don't put 2 males in the same tank, because it is they who fight to the death!!

most betta you get in the stores are male. You will have a hard time finding a female unless you request them from a fish store. The females are dull colored and have shorter fins. The other clear difference is that the male makes a bubble nest at the top of the container it is in.

Wow... properly, in case you don't understand some as hassle-free as a thank you to tell men from women human beings, then consistent with hazard you shouldn't be breeding. it particularly is totally evident that's which. Male betta's have long flowing fins, and are brightly colored. women human beings have short fins and are customarily a brownish coloration. Ever heard the guideline that the male style of animals are extra colourful? properly, this holds authentic with the betta fish. carry out a little extra learn. plenty extra learn. In some extra months (shall we are saying 6), then consistent with hazard you would be waiting.

Um...the male is colorful. I once had a male and a female. The male was red and purple. The male had longer fins. The female was just a little white thing. In the fish world (as is in the bird world), the males are eye-candy :P

Males have long flowing fins and are usually more aggressive. Females usually have smaller bodies and they have shorter fins. But females can get bigger than males (I have two and they are nearly three inches long and their bodies are thicker than my males and they are more aggressive then my males). Females are also almost always as bright and vibrant as males lately because betta breeders see they are becoming more popular. So they breed them specifically to be brighter and prettier. Therefore, more appealing.

The Male Beta fish usually is the one with the stronger color and longest fins since the females fins are shot.

males have long, flowing fins mainly around the tail area. Females have shorter fins and they usually go all the way down her underside/stomach area. Your fish store should have them labled. If they are not labled then if you ask they will also be able to tell you.

If there are bubbles on top of the water, then it's a male. They make the bubbles on top of the water for the females to lay their eggs in. That's the only way I know to tell.

females have a murkier, unclear coloring pattern. They have very short tails. Males are the most common with the beautiful color patterns and the long flowing tails.
