I just set up a fresh water tank about two weeks ago and the water will not clear up. What should I add or do? There are four fish in the tank and they don't seem to be bothered by it, i just dont like how it looks!

I'm loathed to part with him because he is obviously happy, but he has managed to eat through 5 other swordtails, including the mother he got pregnant, and the baby she got birth to, 8 mollies and a tetra. I have had him about 9 months now and he's grown quite a bit since then. He doesn't seem to bother my other fish most of the time, but be obviously has a bad temper. Should I remove him and flush him down the loo? or keep him and hope he will be ok if I get some more fish?

the weather is getting colder. I am just a little bit worried that my fishes will feel cold.
Will they be fine?
Or...is there any machine or something that could help them?

Only practical experiences from flowerhorn owners please. No cut and paste or url reference required. I myself am a fishkeeper since 1999, and have developed interest in flowerhorns recently.

I cant keep my betta at home anymore. I was going to take him to work and put him on my desk. The office gets warm during the day (75) and cool at night (65) is that too great of a difference during that 24 hour span for him? The change occurs over a couple hours, but I dont want to put too much stress on him.

Any ideas? Or should I just try to find him a new home?

Ok...I need some help.... My roomie has an Oscar-quite large now, 7-8 inches long at least, and in a large enough tank- but she never cleans it. I know it's a hassle, since it's such a large tank, but it's very gross now. The most she does to clean it is wipe the inside glass with a sponge to get the algae off, she never cleans the rocks, decorations, or swaps out for fresh water. She has three filters set up but it still stays pretty dirty. He's in the tank by himself. The decorations she has for the tank are now dark brown from the algae. The water is a good 3 inches too low most of the time-but I remind you, IS in a very large tank, 55 gallon, I think? I was putting fresh water in the tank weekly, because it was getting low and very noisy, but she started relying on ME to do it, and relies on me to do a lot of other things too- I have to stop. But now she doesn't do anything. How can I tell her she needs to take up responsibilty. I plan on getting a new roomie when lease ends in May

I have recently reestablished my aquarium. I left the gravel nearly untouched in the changing of water process. No fish were in the tank or have been for 5 months. I have a undergravel filter as well as a filter that pulls the water up and runs it through a carbon + filter and the other one is some black thing. It is made by Whisper.I have a 30 gal. tank. I took out all but about 5 gallons of the tank and replaced the water. I treated the water both by PH ( 7.0 ) and a water conditioner. The system was stable for about 4 days The fish have been in the tank about 6 days. I have 4 fish. Two are the same and are gold with the fan tail. 2 are white and gold. Only one is laying at the bottom of the tank. He is one of the gold fan tail fish. I am feeding them 2 types of food. One is goldfish flake and the other is shrimp pellets formula. All appear to be fine except the one. What should I do to fix this issue with the one fish? I have just added about 1 tsp of aquarium salt to the water.
