so i have 4 guppies, 5 glolight tetras, 1 snail, i african dwarf frog, i snail, and 2 marble shrimp! I have room for about two more fish, i want them to be a no more than 5 inches together. Any good ideas? They need to be readily available and not really expensive!

Most people are giving you suggestions of 2" schooling fish, which is about 12 inches total. I would go with a small school of panda cories. Five panda cories would have you at 5 inches, and they have great personalities and are fun little fish to watch. Plus they are nice bottom feeders. A little more expensive than the larger more common cories (pandas are usually $4-$5 a piece), but well worth it.

You can't put tetras in with guppies, they'll eat the babies. I would get rid of the tetras and stick with the guppies. Fancy guppies are much nicer than the common ones. It would be worth investing a few extra dollars in them. They breed like crazy and will always keep the tank going.

The barbs will nip the fins of your fish and stress anybody out. and to the person above me the guppy will also eat babies so if you want them to live put them in a seperate tank

Zebra dorios are very cool they add excitement to your tank but they wont do well by having one or two you would need at lease six they are very small They breed very easily they are veryintresting to watch because they will chase eachother and swim very fast the only down part is that they are fin nippers they have a better chance of notnipping other types of fish if you have six of them i would research about them to see which fish they go great with in a tank. but after your other fish die i recomend getting them they live for about 2-5 years pretty long for small guysP.s. i bought mine for 99cents. they are very easy to breed and take care of. they can adapt easily to difrent types of water tempatures i think they ar e2inches veeery easy to take care of i highlyrecomend them but see if they will do okay with the fish that you already have(research)

I would put in 2 zebra danios, they are normally at all pet stores that sell fish, not large danios, zebra danios. or I would go with blood fins, they are very neat looking I have 2 in my aquarium, they are silver down their body and their fins are red, note the name Blood Fins. keep tetras together they get along well, don't get rid of your tetras, but they might pick on the guppies, but they might not.

Do NOT get ANY BARBS OR CHILIDS, they are aggressive fish and will attack your fish and eat them. You can get some Molly's, or a plecostomus, there are ghost shrimp at wal-mart and you can get corydora catfish... They eat algae and are about 2 inches long... Adorable, they are school fish.

How about some clown plecostomas, they will only equal about 4 in. together and they are interesting!

Cherry barbs are cool and small but they may need a bigger group than just 2. Platties are nice and can be small too.
