I wouldn't put it in my tank because you don't know whats been in the pond and if any of the fish have any type of disease that could be pasted on to any of your fish. I wouldn't take a chance on it. And plus their could be parasites or bugs on or inside the plant, I wouldn't take a chance on it if I were u.

I really don't know, but I know that it's important to make extra sure that what you're putting in the tank is compatible with the fish. I'd say take a picture, or a sample of the seaweed and go to your local pet store and ask an expert. Talk is free. I'm horrible with fish. Whatever I do they end up belly up, and I know that their environments are very delicate. Lots of people use artificial plants. Hope this helps.

Seaweed implies one very specific thing. It comes from the sea. What you have may be milfoil or a common lilly since we have no description other than it is from a pond. Living plants are very difficult to maintain without a fairly good knowledge of fishtanks. Good luck though.

I probably wouldn't use it I think it might harm or disturb the fish. Since the seaweed is out of its natural place it was living.

sea • weed .... plants that live in the sea...

you don't have seaweed, you have algae. Algae is an indicator of the health in you tank... there are dozen of type of algae. Some are fine, some are bad and can kill. You didn't describe that color it is so I have no idea...

just scrap off the algae and do a water change....

done.

I wouldent you never know what it has picked up lots of patogens and heavy metals are in tank water. Algae like that is also likely to sprout out and spread covering your tank with alge.
