Add some freshwater aquarium salt to his tank (1/2 teaspoon per gallon) to reduce stress. Feed him half of a cooked green pea with the skin removed. Then don't feed him for three days, or until the constipation is fixed, whichever comes first. You don't want to feed him anything but small amounts of cooked pea while he is constipated, because that will just add more to the problem. After three days, if he is still constipated, you can try giving him an epsom salt bath. Put some of his aquarium water in a seperate container and dissolve some epsom salt in it (1 tablespoon of epsom salt per half gallon of water). Scoop your betta up in the net, and set him in the epsom salt bath, keeping him in the net. Keep him in the bath for no longer than 5 minutes. While he's in the bath, replace the missing water from his aquarium with fresh dechlorinated water. After 5 minutes, put him back in his aquarium, give him a few minutes to reacclimate, and then feed him another half a cooked green pea with the skin removed. Repeat with the green pea every other day until the constipation is over, but don't attempt the bath more than once a week. If he starts looking worse before the first three days of non-feeding are up, you can try the epsom salt bath sooner.

replace from the flake food to the pellets. i'm easily astonished that you've a Betta that eats flake food. i have been breeding the choosy buggers for 6 years and under no circumstances gotten any of them interested in it. Feed him no more advantageous than 2 pellets two times an afternoon, about 12 hours aside. once you arise, and back once you get homestead. For me, I feed 9am and 9pm yet six and six, seven and 7...in spite of the indisputable fact that is tremendous. quick him in the destiny a week. yet considering your little pal looks extra susceptible to it, i ought to quick him once each and every 4 days. 4 on, one quick. i ought to even evaluate preserving him on peas for his first feeding after the fast in simple terms to substantiate he's cleared out sturdy.

I do not know of how you could tell if a fish was constipated, nor have I ever heard of this? I have had fish, Do have fish, and worked in the pet business for many years and I have never ever heard of that. It is probably something else...if it is a female she could possibly be eggbound...
