Only practical experiences from flowerhorn owners please. No cut and paste or url reference required. I myself am a fishkeeper since 1999, and have developed interest in flowerhorns recently.

I've kept flowerhorns before and I'm from Malaysia, THE country which sparked the flowerhorn fish craze in the 1st place. I never really liked the species and am glad that the craze is finally gone completely! Anyway, here's what I can share with you.

They're very territorial and don't usually get along well with other fish. They're some of the most agressive cichlids you can think of. If you didn't know already, their "horns" are used for attacking or intimidating purposes. Because of their incredibly active and agressive nature, they sometimes ram into the wall of the tank if it spots anything, seriously. However, they are easily tamed and can be fun playing with. Spend lots of time with your flowerhorn and it'll soon be able to do flips and rolls underwater, that's the only thing fun about them. Flowerhorns love live food. The next best thing is frozen bloodworms, my fish really liked them. Some flowerhorns grow very big and may look like aquatic monsters but these rare kind used to fetch insane prices.

Those are few simple things I can tell you about flowerhorn fish, I can't think of more...
